Sorry - please disregard the above link, which refers to hypertension. You mean hypotension right? Low blood pressure (like me). There is a low blood pressure forum on CureZone now. I've heard licorace supplements are good for this, I keep meaning to try them. Also cayaene (pepper) tincture.

there is something else that can inhibit the uptake of iron.
Those polyphenols. Like green tea, and red/blue colored fruits.
I learned about this with a bang (more or less).
Fresh blueberries were in season. I love blueberries, so began making the most of it while they were available. 2 to 3 quarts a week! Then I noticed how weak and tired I was. My gums were white as were the inside of my eyelids.
Low iron is an old problem for me. This had just been the last straw.
Those lengthwise ridges on your fingernails are also a sign of low iron. I've had them all my life.

Now as to those tests they do when you go to the DR. The results come back, lets say a number 36 and under is indicated as anemic.
So my numbers are like 37 or 38. But this never registers in the column that the Doctor looks at.

I told him of my "cold flashes". I can get freezing cold and the temp on the wall is 78 deg. So he says, "hmmm low thyroid" and wants to give me thyroid meds. NOw he is an idot! I am 5'2" and weigh 112. I eat 3/4 lb of potatoes, 1/2 lb of veg and 3 or so times a week added to that 1/2 of meat. And sometimes a pound of snikers bars a week too. Low thyroid? I don't think so!
Eating all that food and maintaing normal weight takes a high rate of metabolism.

From what I read I am sligtly HYPER-thryroid.

I am now taking copper and iron, as well as vitamins. I have been taking about 1 tbs of olive oil a day, and it has stimulated my liver, and I have been famished. Yesterday I bought a pound of beef steak and ate the whole thing, gristle, fat and all. And then I had my usual potatoes and veggies for supper. I really should have gotten another package of those Snickers bars to top it off.
