Hi Sherri! I am so glad you found a great doctor! My son's appointment was Monday and it went well.....he is super healthy and they said he looked really good. We did talk about vaccinations and she is pro-vaccination, however, she is open somewhat. She has other families that have chosen not to vaccinate. She did try to talk me into getting him shots that day though and I had to say no. The 2 she feels are the most important are the DTaP and Hib. She says she's seen cases of Pertussis and Tetanus recently. I think she was trying to scare me a bit too. She said one of her families that chose not to vaccinate; their son got pertussis and almost died. She also isn't convinced of the studies linking vaccines and autism....she believes that study was disproved. And she also said there isn't any "real" evidence that thimerosal is harmful. I honestly really wonder how she and other doctors can think that. They gave me a pamphlet on vaccines and it shows pictures of children with these diseases.....basically a scare tactic.....and it does scare the mess out of me. I asked her if she saw any adverse reactions and she said "oh yeah." The most have been to the DTP/DTaP but not as much with the DTaP. I am SO torn over what to do.....I only want what's best for my son. I feel like I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't.....you know? If we do decide to vaccinate him it will definitely be selective and not according to the vaccination schedule.....I want to wait till he's older and his body is more capable of handling them. On that pamphlet they gave me it has some websites on the back that she said were "trustworthy"......you know only goverment sites and sites that promote vaccines. That's the thing that really bugs me is they don't give you both sides or all of the information. I had to ask for the VIS information sheets. According to one of the vaccine books I read they are required to give those to parents BEFORE any vaccine is administered. Oh and I thought this was interesting.....she said that she doesn't follow the vaccine schedule exactly; she likes to space them out more........well WHY if vaccines are supposedly so safe. UGH! I still have a lot of reading to do, but I have decided against the Hep. B, influenza and chicken pox vaccines for sure. Well my son just woke up from his nap.......talk to you later!

That's what I'm going to do also is compile info by vaccine and put it in some sort of order so I can stay focused on why I choose what I do. Doctors can get you off track very easily if you aren't prepared. My husband also hasn't read any books but he did watch that video Dr. Sherri Tenpenney made. I have to get it back from our friends and watch it again. My husband has done some reading on the internet also. Thankfully we are on the same page on this issue. I'm still on the chickenpox chapter but I'm really interested in reading about DTaP and Hib since those are the 2 that I'm most concerned about and the 2 my ped recommended. So far from what I've read we aren't going to be getting the MMR and I've already ruled out chickenpox, Hep. B and flu. I'm on the hunt for another pediatrician. From our last visit I just don't feel comfortable taking my son there anymore. I'm making up a list of questions so I can "interview" the next one before I take my son. I wish we had some Holistic peds here but there are none.
