Dr. Vinograd,

As I mentioned in my fluoride post below, I just went for my six month teeth cleaning last week. One of the things discussed during that visit was the possibility of me having my teeth whitened.

I use the Master's Miracle products to brush my teeth, but contrary to other people's testimonies, it does nothing to whiten my teeth. I will, however, take the huge progess it has made in my gums!! But I am still left with dull/slightly yellow teeth. I have never smoked nor drank coffe, but have had my fair share of decaf tea over the years. I stopped that about three years ago, but my teeth are still stained. My front teeth were badly discolored due to me being given tetracycline (sp?)as a child. I was able to get this ugly stain "blasted" off by my dentist years ago. This was a huge improvement, but now I am left with an overall yellowed appearance.

Do you think teeth whitening is safe to do? If so, what is the best and/or safest method to use? There are SO many to choose from and the version my dentist is recommending is close to $400 (which is done in their office).

I would appreciate your thoughts on this.
