Hello,
Having done The Master Cleanse previously, I thought I could do it again. After the first fast I incorporated a lot of juices, and bought Paavo Arieolas book. After five days on the master cleanse, I could no longer stand the maple syrup. I am now on day six, switching to a juice fast is just much more appealing at least to me. I was wondering if anyone else has tried both Master Cleanse and Juice fast?

This is a reply to # 679,525I have done both. Usually I start with the MC, and change over to the juice fast like you're doing. This time, I'm on day 2 of a juice fast.
Welcome to the group! For how long are you trying to fast? I'd love to hear about your motivations for fasting. What are your goals?

Thanks for the welcome, today is basically my first full day of the juice fast. I first tried the Master-Cleanse back in may. I had previously had stomach aches frequently, high blood pressure and high cholesterol too. Being a forty year old male, I basically got a wake up call for my own health. The initial fast lasted for 8 days, and I lost about 12 lbs. I stopped snoring and felt great too.
I wanted to cleanse out my system and especially lose some extra weight.
I went back to eating vegetarian and stared using a juicer my friend gave me. I was hooked on juice then and always tryed to incorporate them in meals. My reasons for this fast are the same, basically to lose the last bit of weight and regain my health. This juice fast is awesome, seriously I am excited for the day and not dreading the lemonade mix. I feel the Master-Cleanse is a great cleanse, but juicing is just wonderful. I hope too here more from your experience and thank you for your support.

I did the Master-Cleanse cleanse for 8 days, took a week off and then did a 5 days juice fast. I found the juice fast was much easier in terms of preparation. On the Master-Cleanse I was constantly buying and juicing lemons and worrying about being in a situation without having the lemonade. I don't juice own a juicer yet, so I buy it several juices throught out the day. During the Master-Cleanse my abdomen was flat, empty and I felt light, thin. During the juice fast I felt very bloated.

MoreThis is a reply to # 679,533I am feeling rather bloated tonight. I don't remember feeling this way on previous juice fasts. I'm thinking it may be the cabbage or red onion, but could it just be a normal part of the fast?? I tried using bloat/bloated as search terms on this site, but didn't come up with anything related to juice fasting.

DO continue to do a daily colon cleansing routine, just as you would on the MC! I think a lot of folks are lax on that and pay the price, i.e., bloating. Plain water enema is an acceptable substitute for the tea/swf.

I very much enjoy reading the posts, the ideas and support are invaluable. I am feeling fine this day six ending, carrot juice for dinner was delicious. Its funny how people react to someone that is fasting, some people are seriously interested and others think its too weird.
I can actually see results, its almost surreal I have never felt so alive and vibrant. Fasting is truly and amazing process and I completely believe in its healing of body and mind. Was visiting friends earlier and the door bell from the pizza man arrived, I thought it was a good time to leave. Pizza slices are for a future date.

I absolutely agree with you about the amazing experience of fasting. And human beings are naturally suspicious about anything they don't understand...

Eliminations during the Master-Cleanse and a Juice Fast are primarily the same. Tea/SWF does not relieve bloating. I had a colonic the last day of my 4 day juice fast which did not relieve the bloating. My stomach was less bloated after I started eating again, go figure.

I have done extensive fasting over the past three years for colon cleansing purposes. I have done very long MCs (30 and 48 days)... last summer I went to day 48 on Master-Cleanse when the lemonade finally let me down, then switched to juices, which supported me beautifully on to day 60!
This summer I am doing a series of ten day fasts with cleansing diet between, as opposed to one longie. For whatever reason, the lemonade has just not done it for me this summer. Previously I have enjoyed the lemonade, right up to the time it didn't do the trick for me anymore last summer. I did two tens on lemonade, each time swearing if the lemonade didn't pick me up better I would switch to juices, then last ten (third in the series) I finally switched on day 7, and DID get the lift I needed!
And of course the variety is nice.
I love the MC. It is SO convenient, easy and relatively inexpensive (compared to shopping fresh produce every other day and juicing fresh). However, you do need full support on a fast of any duration, and juices do it! I work out every day I fast, and take 1 T. BLACKSTRAP molasses in a cup of hot water before going to the gym, in addition to juices, lots of water and herb teas.
Remember, daily intake should be between 3-6 cups. DO continue doing a colon cleansing routine. Feel free to substitute a plain water enema at any time for the tea/swf it is more convenient.

This is a reply to # 679,536I was craving sweets tonight, and decided to break my normal protocol and have a sweet drink for dinner. I wanted to use up the rest of the watermelon, but did NOT want to juice it with my big juicer. I filled my Vitamix with Watermelon chunks, added some pure water, and ran it. Then I strained it through a nutmilk bag. It worked great! No pulp and LOTS of juice. Best part of it was NO MESS!
I got too much juice, so I filled a small glass apple juice bottle with some to take tomorrow. I have to get up early to juice a whole day's worth, and then pack it with me on my drive to Lake Tahoe. I'll be driving about 6 hours tomorrow; plus working a few in between the drives...

Welllll... that's an enema you do with plain water! Same stuff you would drink.
What is an enema? There is a great post somewhere here on that... but for the life I cannot recall where.
You can get an enema kit at any decent pharmacy. It consists of a bag with a hose and a variety of tips, one of which you would use to douche (if you are a gal). Use the smallest.
Fill the bag with about a quart of warm water, attach the hose/tip, hang about 3 feet above your tub or shower floor, insert the tip in your anus, strike a semi-comfy pose rear up, head down, and allow the water to enter at a comfortable pace. When you have taken all you can, lie on a towel and massage your colon, first the left side, bottom to top, then across the middle (under the breast bone), then down the right side. This is the reverse of the way waste enters the colon--you are working the water IN as opposed to stuff coming OUT. If you cannot comfortably manage this, simply expel the water into the toilet.
Massaging the colon will help remove waste (which becomes stuck to the walls of the colon much like leftover lasagne in a lasagne pan!), but a simple flush will do the trick.
It does take a bit of practice, but soon becomes second nature to a true cleanser!

Seriously debating switch to juice cleanse now as the candida string looks fresh these days not as old wrinkling looking as before :( I suspect the maple syrup as the culprit ?
How did you do the transition ? Just a simple switch the next day? Do you recomend green juice only or add in sweet fruit ?
I was watching "fat, sick and diseased" quite impressed w the juice cleanse.. What juicer do you use?
