You know, I remember when I was still with the perpetrator and how I spent so much time at the doctor's office, in the ER, or just wishing that I'd be struck by lightning so that my misery would end.  I had never experienced a migraine until I was on antidepressants (Paxil 20mg) and the perpetrator refused to pay for an Rx refill.  I had another one when I left him - withdrawal, of course, because he refused to honor our separation agreement and pay for the medications.  Once I detoxed that sh*t from my system, I never needed another antidepressant, again.

For a number of years (about 3, I'd say) after I left him, I still had bouts of illness and chronic pain.  But, as time began to pass and I continued my emotional healing, my body decided that I didn't need to be sick or in pain, anymore.  Not chronically so, at least. 

Many people who suffer from PTSD also suffer chronic illnesses and physical pain.  My belief with regard to that is that the human body must process life-altering events and/or circumstances in some manner and releasing the negativity in a physical manner must be one of the methods of doing this. 

I also noticed that, as my emotional healing continued, my nightmare episodes decreased, as well.
