I'm 22 years old. For over 1 week now I've had a problem with my right ear. The first thing I noticed was within a few seconds, the eustachian tube seemed to feel a bit blocked, like a slight headcold. I spend a lot of time playing music (piano guitar etc), and the most noticable thing that I realised (mostly from testing on piano) was: frequencies up as far as around 600Hz were doubled up, all slightly flat (but not consistantly by the same amount). An over the last few days, that 600Hz seems to be increasing to 800 or 900 Hz. Foe example, when people talk, I hear two (main) frequencies. And more and more even my own voice is sounding like this.
I went to the doctor explaining this. He examined the ear and said the eustachian tube is quite blocked. I mentioned my hayfever, and he said it takes time to clear up itself. But it's gotten much worse, and it must be much more that just this.
More noticable over the last couple of days - the ear is very sensitive to sound. I have permanent (but mild) tinnitus since very young. Normally loud sounds provoke the tinnitus (like loud music in a late-bar or something). But even just at home here, noises like flushing a toilet or the TV, all cause the tinnitus to become very evident, and even small noises are quite uncomfortable to the ear. And those dual-frequencies are becomming more and more prominant to my ear.
Anyone any idea what this could be?
