I have been doing castor oil packs 4 days a week for about 2 months and I seem to be picking up weight. I'm wondering if absorbing castor oil would cause weight gain or if maybe it's lymph related. Is this the norm ?

I really do not know the answer but my experience with castor oil makes it seem unlikely to cause one to gain weight. It never caused me to gain or lose weight. There was one interesting thread from a few years ago that I located. Maybe it will help you find an answer:
