experience god my friends, not religion.
at its best, religion is ethics. ethics is the general development of self-awareness and is not to be contrived in particular decisions made by particular individuals with particular opportunities in particular circumstances using particular tools. turning contraception and abortion, not to mention evolution, entertainment, and divorce into ethical litmus tests was a colossal overstep religions have no place surviving.
experiencing god must come from the 'self',intuitive, from within, the heart, spiritually, where god is without religion, where jesus is without religion, where all goodness is without the need for religion as seen today.
religion would be fine if it looked upon a universal god,regardless of religious, cultural, or political affiliation intended for anyone interested in spiritual growth. tomi.

MoreThis is a reply to # 964,545Amen! Religion is a man made concept. Religion is a bunch of man made ideas that people use to feel close to God. It is unfortunate that people feel that they need religion to feel close to God. Religion is binding people all of the time. Jesus is the way to God. period. I am a Christian who loves God in my mind and in my heart. I walk in love and treat all people kindly and with respect. That is exactly what Jesus would do right? I get so mad when I see people doing hateful things like screaming at homosexuals and scared women entering abortion clinics. Who are they to condem anyone? None of them are free of sin, and the bible is clear that sin is sin. People need to foucs on their selves and their own walk with God.

This is a reply to # 964,917totally agree 'blessedandfavored'. in answer to that i would say that if people listened only to god's word, then the world would not be in the mess that it is today.
the problem is for many of us is to distinguish god, then god's words, then live by them.

Aye, there's the rub! Deciphering God's word from the word of those who have set themselves up (or have been elevated to the rank of God by an idol-worshipping humanity that constructs a god in their own image & likeness) as God.
I LOVE God...the God of mercy, compassion, tolerance, forgiveness, forbearance, unity , brotherhood, strength...all things that support and make Life what it is in its essence.
To me, there is no other god.This fearsome, axe-grinding, bottomless-pit throwing, damning god of the Old Testament numbs my mind and heart. This god was created to instill fear & doubt in a humanity that has most certainly lost its own self-identity.
I also don't subscribe to a personal savior - the one known as Jesus. There may truly have been an historical character who lived aeons ago and taught the very precepts by which I define God, however, imo, he was truly a wayshower...a harbinger of the Christic potential which is truly capable of ignition in all LIFE once that LIFE determines resolution with the qualities of God...ultimate coherency in mind and heart. Not human perfection by any means.

i believe that we both are relating to this god, not the god of convenience which enhances fear into the populace.
as in god, jesus has been kicked around some. if your heart is with god then your heart is with jesus, unless you feel that he is not the son of god. tomi.
