'new ager' or 'new age' is just a term that is used to marginalise and belittle thought and ways of being that we may disagree with, due to our egoistic attachments to 'our' beliefs. a cult is aptly defined as 'the church down the street from yours.'
the mythological personage of jesus, had he really existed in history, would most certainly, during his time, be termed 'new age.' as would have buddha and all the great teachers that found the way for themselves.
religion does not work because truth cannot be standardised into a template that suits everyone. it can only point the direction one needs to travel in to find their own truth. without doing the work oneself, one will be subject to clinging to the ego and its attachments that are used to protect it from deep seated fears and doubts.
there is nothing 'new age' about the search for meaning and understanding. the methods are the same now as they have been forever, and will always be. the terminologies may vary, from time to time, but the search is forever the same.
look within. there is no other place to find It.
love
