HELP Young Man

I am posting this with the hope that we can help Reny Cabral, a young California man with schizophrenia and quadriplegia.

I first read about Reny in the Los Angeles Times in December 7, 2007, and was both moved and angered--moved because of the determination of Reny and his family for his recovery, and angered because of the suffering Reny and his family have had to endure because of California's failed mental health and penal systems.

I am asking you to do the following:

If reading Reny's story moves you as it did me, I am asking you to consider doing the following:

--Pray for Reny Cabral and his family--for Reny's continuing recovery, for the family's continuing fortitude, and for a positive legal resolution for Reny.

UPDATE: What Reny's situation is now:

I wrote to the LA Times reporters to find out how Reny is doing since the original article was posted. Lee Romney replied that Reny had a court date where the family hoped a settlement could be reached around a reduced plea, but that the District Attorney's office is pressing ahead with the attempted murder charges.

Reny's family wrote that "Reny is doing very well considering everything that is swirling around him. He is currently going to therapy on an outpatient basis and working hard everyday. Reny would like to say thank you for taking the time to care for a stranger
