Obama Welcomes Questions!
Pres-Elect Obama invites the public to post questions on his website Change.gov. The public is also invited to vote on questions others have already posted. GET INVOLVED! Go to the website and vote/post questions yourself!

"We recently launched a new feature on Change.gov called Open for Questions. Thousands of you responded, asking 10,000 questions and voting nearly a million times on questions from others.
Now that we've answered some of the most popular ones from the last round, we are open for questions again. Ask whatever you like, and vote up or down on the other questions to let us know which ones you most want the Transition to answer.

There are many excellent questions on the environment already posted by others. I added the following questions under the topic "Energy & Environment":
"The Bush Administration is working feverishly to dismantle major environmental safeguards protecting America's wildlife, national parks and rivers before he leaves office in January. What are you doing to counter these 'midnight regulations'?"
"Will you take building more nuclear power plants off your energy agenda? There is still no viable solution to the accumulation of nuclear waste that takes thousands of years to degrade. Nuclear power is NOT 'alternative energy'."
"Will you provide funding for research into tidal energy and geothermal energy? Will government funding be provided for enterpreneuers and universities, not just large corporations and energy utility companies?"
"President-elect Obama read the article by Professor Michael Pollan about U.S. agriculture contributing to greenhouse gasses. What will the new Secretary of Ag do to implement some of Pollan's suggestions to clean up agricultural practices?"
"Will the Obama Administration stop federal farm subsidies for commodities farmers who engage in environmentally negative practices such as monoculture, pesticide/herbicide use, genetically modified food crops? Why not subsidies for organic farmers?"
"What about Federal subsidies to farmers who use alternative energy-fueled farm machinery such as reclaimed methane gas from animal waste?"
"What will the Sec. of Agriculture do to ensure fair wages/benefits/safe working conditions for farm workers? Bush worked with Mexico to develop a "guest" farm worker program but progress stopped after 9/11--will another attempt be made?"
"U.S. companies promote GMO seeds/pesticides/herbicides to economically challenged farmers in developing nations. What will the Obama Admin. do to assist these farmers to engage in sustainable farming practices in order to achieve food independence?"
"Will the Obama Admin. provide federal funding for organic urban farming in inner city neigborhoods, organic foods in school lunch programs, organic gardens in public schools, environmental education in public schools?"
"Will the Obama Admin. discourage the use of large Factory Farms where animals are often treated inhumanely and instead encourage humane and free-range organic grass-fed animal husbandry on smaller family farms and ranches?"
"Packaged foods often come in unrecyclable containers such as styrofoam and plastics. Will an effort be made to encourage and/or mandate food processing companies to reduce packaging and use recyclable or biodegradable/compostable containers?"
"Current law mandates that artificial coloring and flavoring be listed on packaged food labels. Will labeling become mandatory for foods that contain GMO's, antibiotics, hormones, Bovine growth factor, MSG, sulfites, and other ingredients?"
