Paranoia - out of ones mind

I started a blog on paranoia, had a metanoia while doing it, and told a parable about wild pigs

I had a little metanoia today, but then I thought these metanoias are actually more like analitycal-noias or reflection noias, because I am analysing and reflecting on things. So I needed a word to express this in Greek, to match metanoia. I thought of para, then realised that there already is a word and it means bonkers, lol!

Well, then I decided to try and find what it actually meant and go a bit deeper into it, so I looked on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paranoia
and found the Greek παράνοια and found a Greek English translator (which does ancient Greek as well - GOOD! http://www.kypros.org/cgi-bin/lexicon

From Wikipedia it says paranoia means out of your mind (more or less), but I am not convinced it means mad in the conventional sense of being out of ones mind.

For some reason παράνοια is not in the lexicon / translator so I looked up παρά and it said "from beside by -> gen beside -> dat along to beside during -> acc"

It's also interesting to note that παρα can be found used in the sense of expansion, eg παραισθησιογόνος, ψυχεδελικός, paraisthisiogonos, psychedelikos.

Anyway it was an interesting digression, to examine paranoia, but it does make me realize how badly twisted peoples mind have become to think that repentance is the act of stopping doing something bad. That's just behavioral control, that won't fix the psyche.

We have become as sick a society in the way we think as we are in the way we eat.

Why don't you repent, all you sinners. But you don't even know what it means, sigh.

You know Jesus used to tell, hah ha ha!!!!!!!! F*** me I just hit the nail on the head. Well another litte thought connecting things. He used to tell parables!!! Note the παρα - and I'll bet that turns out to be para bolos, I will check... OK parable = παραβολή (paraboli) βολή= shot, throw (boli)

As I was saying Jesus used to tell parables which was a way to try and get people to think outside the box.

Do you people want to know a parable? Here's one about wild pigs OK?

THE PARABLE OF THE PIGS

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some Exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back.

He had been shot while fighting Socialists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new Socialist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. "You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught.

Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity. *

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.

One should always remember "There is no such thing as a free lunch!" Also, "You can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government "help" is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably disregard this, but God help you when the gate slams shut!"

END OF THE PARABLE OF THE PIGS

Now that parable was meant to make people do a metanoia in relation to the US Government.

Think how words can imprison you.

I still haven't found the word I was looking for, the word I want is a sort of Greek word with a noia in it that represents the deep analytical thoughts required to examine a parable or external events in relation to ones own life, you know, lateral thinking and all that. If there isn't one I'll have to put two Greek words together and make a new one. I am sure there must be such a word, you know with Plato and Aristotle and all that. Wonder what they'd be doing if they would be alive today? Playing computer games and eating junk food?

Time to go to the weekly farmers market to get my organic veggies.

They do good things to the brain.

PS - Carly Simon - You're so vain, I bet you think this blog is about you, don't you?

Ha ha, that means you are paranoid. Actually this blog applies to everyone.
