New Art/Essay: Be True to Yourself
Here we are in August already! Time has gotten away from me! This month I created both an art collage and an essay about self-awareness and how a life coach might help a client discover more about themselves and their life goals.

I recently found an old Certified Life Coaching on-line course that I had signed up for; I still had the password for it, but I had forgotten all about it. I emailed them and they re-sent the course. I took the test and passed! One of the test requirements was to write a one page essay on self awareness and how a life coach helps the client in gaining more self awareness. I am posting it so others can read it:
As many people go about their day-to-day activities, they find themselves in a mindless rut. Each day seems just like the last day. Everything is so familiar. Actions seem almost robot like. Nothing is ever questioned. The concept of self awareness or introspection never seems to cross their minds.
The same patterns repeat over and over until, one day, something happens to wake them up and they find that they are not on the path that they truly want. They find themselves in some crises that leads them to decide they need some help. They may choose a life coach.
A life coach is there to help show them the way to become more self aware. The coach helps them by not only holding the safe space for them to recognize their patterns, but to also become motivated to change their patterns. This leads the client into finding that knowing more about themselves is essential. By becoming more self aware, they are able to understand and change those patterns that, before this, they were not able to see.
As Socrates said: “Know thyself”. While the statement is simple, the process is more than an intellectual one. It is more than a quick glance at all the life problems that have been holding someone back.
The coach is there to hold a safe place for the client to move past those blocks and things that they have allowed themselves to use as a crutch to hold themselves back. The coach is able to be a neutral zone to help point out where those stuck points are.
The coach asks many open ended questions that help to lead the client to their desired path. By becoming more self aware, the client is then able to become even more motivated to change. They are more likely to follow a straighter path to their desired conclusions.
By using a life coach to help them see themselves in a more true light, the client is able to move ahead more quickly. While the coach holds the guiding light, the client is able to see real, obtainable goals. They are held accountable for their steps along the way. They feel supported. They are more motivated to continue in their process. They become more self aware.
The client then is able to truly move in a positive direction and hold a solid vision, while actually obtaining the goals and lifestyle of their dreams.
