A Helpful Guide on Efficient Ways a Fighter Can Recover After a Fight

Fighting of any kind can cause a great deal of stress on any person’s body. This is especially true for professional fighters such as boxers and MMA fighters. Without the proper amount of time to recover and an efficient recovery method, a fighter can endanger him or herself to unnecessary repercussions such as broken bones, sprains, and even concussions. Having the know-how on some of the most efficient recovery methods can be one of the greatest tools to assist a professional fighter in becoming an even better one. 

Healing With a Wave

Doing shockwave therapy, for example, is one effective way a professional fighter can successfully recover after a gruesome fight. One of the reasons this form of therapy is so effective is that it focuses explicitly on healing a person from a cellular level. It is done by non-invasively sending different intensities of shockwaves through a person’s injured body. 

This form of treatment has been associated with having a remarkable effect on a person’s health. From being able to grant an injured person pain relief to acting as an anti-inflammatory agent to improving blood circulation, shockwaves have also been shown to do wonders for a person on a cellular level. In fact, this recovery method has been shown to assist in improving and reconstructing a person’s once damaged tissues and creating a salubrious environment to trigger stem cells to become active once again. Who knew doing a shock here and a shock there could have such advantageous results on a person’s body! 

Massaging the Injuries Away

Outside of using shock waves as a form of therapy, another great way to recover from a fight can be to get a full-body massage done. One type of full-body massage commonly done for professional fighters is a hot stone massage. Hot stone massages can be a great way a rehabilitating fighter can improve how well and possibly even how fast their muscles recover after a fight. By getting a massage done, an injured fighter can improve the soreness within their muscles and fight inflammation simultaneously. This method for rehabilitation can also be an efficacious way an injured boxer or MMA fighter can spend their time and energy lowering the amount of stress they put onto their own body. 

Bathing in Ice 

Apart from getting a full body massage, ice baths have also been known to assist those who need rehabilitation. This recovery method is especially beneficial for those with either sore muscles or inflammation-based injuries. Although ice packs are a viable option, they may not be the most efficient route to choose since these packs are only able to cover a small section at a time. On the other hand, ice baths can assist a recovering fighter in being able to tend to the entire bruised body all at once. Thus, making ice baths the more efficient choice.

In addition to the benefits associated with how time-efficient ice baths are, there are several other benefits associated with this practice. For one, ice baths can reduce inflammation. They can also help a fighter improve their muscle recovery time. On top of that, this recovery method can also be beneficial in assisting people in lowering the amount of swelling they may have in an inflamed area. 

Replenishing One Bite at a Time

Lastly, there are other simple practices an injured fighter can incorporate more into their lives that can do wonders for their body. Eating right, for example, can significantly benefit those who require rehabilitation. 

Because fighters exhaust a ton of sweat and energy during a fight, recovering fighters must replenish their lost energy. Someone can accomplish this by eating a diet high in vitamins, proteins, minerals, and antioxidants. In addition, ingesting enough fluids such as water and electrolytes can significantly benefit any recovering fighter in their journey to getting back to a healthy place. 

Fighting in the ring is only half of the battle. The other half of the battle begins after the fight. By choosing efficient methods to assist you in your journey in recovery, you are giving yourself the building blocks that you need to assist you in being the best fighter that you can be.
