ABDOMINAL MASS - Upper Right Quadrant
I am a 25 y/o female - healthy besides the lump, cesarean X2 only surgeries....
On 11/3 I found a lump just beneath my ribcage, on the right. Saw Dr. same day - he thought nothing of it, said it was "probably" a lipoma. By Friday it had grown. Went back to Dr., saw the surgeon, he suggested CT scan first thing Monday (11/10). Had CT scan, surgeon and radiologist thought it looked like a sarcoma, ordered ultrasound to have immediate biopsy. Wednesday to get results of biopsy and the pathologist "doesn't know" what it is. I was originally told that we cannot operate without know for sure what it is... now we're scheduled for removal of the "specimen" on 12/1. I'm not a doc, but I know what they told me, or lack there of. While doing biopsy, they were hoping to be able to drain fluid, they could not and said it was "solid" mass. If they were so concerned, and still aren't SURE what it is, why surgery, and why so much later... and how can the pathologist "Still be looking at it", "THINK it isn't a sarcoma", "THINK it is a fast-growing benign tumor", "cannot be SURE what it is until he has the enire specimen"???? All of that contradicts itself. I'm even more worried than when they told me they THOUGHT it looked like a sarcoma.
I'm military - cannot go for second opinion to civilian Dr. without paying out - of - pocket.... Family history of all kinds of cancer - on mother's and father's side.
Any suggestions???
Oh yeah- mass is bigger than a golf ball at top (nearest to ribcage), and slims down as it "goes down" in my abdomen. I saw it on the ultrasound clearly, and can feel it only rubbing LIGHTLY across abdomen... VERY UGLY THING!
