*Phew*.

*Phew*.
...Just when it was looking like this was one of those fasting blogs that starts with such good intentions then sinks without a trace...

The kids came down with a nasty bug (only 6 out of 20 were in B's class on Monday!), then I followed and Tuesday through Friday I was not in a good way. I did some juicing but not a fast. Finally felt better Friday night so I started my juice fast on Saturday afternoon. After our bad week we decided to have a fun morning out in the sun on Saturday and this included lunch at a beach cafe!!
One good thing about my extra long lead-in...I didn't drink any coffee most of last week (couldn't stomach it!) and probably went through any caffeine withdrawal at the same time I was throwing up!

I'm now on day two of my fast. Saturday afternoon I juiced apple, carrot and celery (easy to get started with!), then had broth at dinnertime and another (8 oz) juice about 7.30pm. I felt hunger pangs all evening and I sipped on a carbonated water and lime juice and played cards with my husband to distract myself. I had some psyllium husks in water and an extra cup of warm water before bed.

Sunday I woke feeling fine. If I hadn't eliminated caffeine last week I probably would have had a where's-my-coffee headache by now! I had 8oz of juice at approx 9am, 11am, then went the cinema with the kids and took an insulated cup of apple and lime juice to sip an hour into the movie - spilt some in my handbag but otherwise that worked really well. More juice at 2pm (I'm into cabbage and beetroot by now - the hard stuff haha!), 5pm and 7.30pm - plus broth, psyllium in water, carbonated water and lime and warm water in the evening. Hunger pangs are difficult around dinnertime when I'm dishing up meals for the family but still no real headache just a low-blood sugar feeling a couple of times through the day - and I lost at cards last night which I blame on a slight spaced out feeling that came over me from 8pm!
Spaciness could be due to detox. I've also got that impossible-to-shift furry feeling on my tongue and teeth. Ick. That's a familiar fasting detox symptom.

Day 2 (my first full day) I had 6 glasses of juice - less what I lost in my handbag! - and another 6 or 7 glasses or cups of fluids.

I intend to do a salt water flush Monday morning - will update Mon evening.

:)
