A New idea for thought...
Food for Thought

(Strange concept, I know) but it was confusing and frustrating to me that I had none of these problems until I started treating them!
The result is this: some days I have no symptoms, some days I have mild symptoms and on NO days is it as bad as it was during the times in between my antibiotic treatments.
I have paid attention to the days I have symptoms and no symptoms and there seems to be a pattern. Right after menstruation I have some odor - lasts 2-3 days, from then through mid-cycle I have no odor, about a week prior to starting menstruation again I notice mild symptoms.
My theory is that BV is not an imbalance or infection, but a natural fluctuation in a woman's flora. I believe it only becomes a problem when the doctors try to correct what's happening naturally with their pills. I think the situation I have now is not normal - the antibiotics seem to have had the permanent effect of depleting my Lactobacillus and I don't know how to replenish it permanently. So my advice is this, if your doctor tells you that you have BV and need to take antibiotics, seriously think twice... maybe give it some time first and see if things get back to normal.
It would make sense to me that some fluctuation in the natural flora is normal during the time of your period - it lowers vaginal acidity, so what if the time I went in for my pap was close to period time or maybe I'd had sex the night before and my vaginal acidity was low and the "bad" bacteria were more prevalent just then... maybe in a day or two things would have been fine. Maybe that whole thing was COMPLETELY NORMAL and not an Imbalance or infection at all?
hmmmm....food for thought
