End of Day 13-Here's my story

I started this juice fast on May 14th and thought I could use this blog as an on-line journal. I have done juice and water fasts in the past for small periods of time 1-6 days and usually did it as a sort of punishment. However, this time, after I did some extensive research on-line I realized that this is really a wonderful gift to myself.

I've always had to watch my weight and ate pretty healthy until about 2 years ago. High stress job, relationship ups and down, just life stuff. I fell into emotional eating and then fad dieting (atkins)to counter act the emotional eating. It can be a vicious cycle. I'm sure many people can relate. My weight gain was a massive 50 lbs in 2 years. On May 14th I weighed 180 lbs on my tiny frame of 5'2". OMG!

I have currently lost 14 lbs in the past 12 days of juicing and now weigh 166. I mostly just drink mixed veggie juices and occassionally have fruit juice in the evening if I need a pick-me-up. Like if I'm going out to watch others eat dinner, etc. Mostly I find the fruit juices too sweet though. I also have 1-2 ounces of wheatgrass a day.

I feel really good. I love the weight loss (yea!) but also just the energy and sense of dicipline and accomplishment!! Those are great feelings to have at 166 lbs! My hardest days were day 4 - very weak for about 2 hours in the mid morning. Bounced back after my wheatgrass drink. Day 7 I was hungry for the first real time because I had a lot of physical activity. Hiking and swimming at the Russian River. I got through that with organic veggie broth that night while my boyfriend BBQed jumbo shrimp. That was a hard couple hours. I did have a healing crisis last night and little bit today (tonsils are infected). I know it will pass soon though and still had plenty of energy for my hike today with Sue. I slept 11 hours last night and maybe I will tonight also.
