According to a recently released study, the number of children diagnosed with bipolar-disorder in the decade from 1994-2003 jumped – not 25%, not 50%, not 100%, not 500%, not even 1000%, but – a mind numbing 4,000%. That's 20 times faster than the growth in the diagnoses of adult bipolar-disorder over the same decade.
We're not talking about small numbers here like an increase from 10 children to 400 children. No! We're talking about an increase from 20,000 children treated for bi-polar disorder in 1994 to 800,000 treated in 2003.
According to study researcher Mark Olfson, MD, MPH, professor of clinical psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center and New York State Psychiatric Institute, "The study does not tell us why so many more kids are being diagnosed and treated for bipolar disorder. But it gives us clues."
What clues? Among others:
Dr. Thomas R. Insel, director of the National Institute of Mental Health, which funded the study, in a massive bit of understatement, called the increase in bipolar diagnoses worrisome. "The way the label is being used is probably a little exuberant," Insel said.
“A little exuberant.” Jack the Ripper was “a little exuberant.” Subjecting an entire generation of children to a regimen of prescription psychotropic drugs is an abomination. That’s right. Most of these kids diagnosed with bipolar disorder were treated with powerful psychotropic drugs. We’re talking about anti-psychotics, mood stabilizers, antidepressants, and stimulants.
And to what effect? Under the watchful eye of the medical community (and modern psychiatry in particular), teenage suicides are up yet again, and teenage psychotic breakdowns are also on the rise. Keep in mind that guns were available 20 years ago, and yet how often did you hear of students going to school and massacring their classmates? Make no mistake -- these dramatic increases have occurred at exactly the same time as young people have been prescribed ever more psychotropic drugs. And the medical community’s answer to the most recent increases is to promote even greater use of mind altering drugs.
As Ben Franklin said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” Based on that definition, perhaps the modern psychiatric community qualifies as insane. Perhaps, as insane people, they should follow their own prescription. Why not place everyone in the psychiatric community on psychotropic drugs to deal with their mass insanity? Or perhaps they already are!
Yep, I agree, but it is perfectly legal. While, I am not a scientologist, the only good thing they do that I know of is go after the Psychologists and Psychtrists that do this. But, since they don't have a good reputation themselves, not sure anyone listens to them.
It has been going on a long time, though:

Children do not need antidepressants. How else to control a society but to drug them? What better way to start than with children?
Ritalyn and the antidepressant drugs being given to children are not necessary. ADD and ADHD are made up conditions and parents are being brainwashed into believing that these are real conditions. The school system and doctors are working together in the drugging of America's children. This was started in the 1980's when a 5th grade schoolteacher told me that my son needed Ritalyn. Thank God they never succeeded in drugging my son. These drugs have serious side effects and they are the reason we are having disturbed kids shooting others in schools. Had we ever heard of this before? Why now?
We have had "hyper" children throughout the ages. Parents in the past have dealt with them without a problem. However, as the government has become involved in our "care" they have lied to parents and made them believe that their children need these drugs. I find it very convenient that most children that fall into this trap are those from dysfunctional homes or single parent homes where the mother is doing her very best to make ends meet. In her exhaustion, she thinks the teacher and doctor are helping her and she falls into the system.
I have seen these children undergo horrendous changes in personality. They lose their personalities, becoming violent and argumentative. I have seen a perfectly well mannered child turn into one that uses profane language. Almost like they are not able to control it. And the mothers are at a loss, they don't know what to do.
I will confess that I have not come across a girl that takes these drugs. They all seem to be boys. Boys being drugged because they are merely "acting like boys."
This is another travesty being performed on society. Children are having their humanity taken away. And again, we just sit and watch.
What is wrong with this picture?
