I'm wondering if I can get some advice from some of you about my issue with LARGE kidney stones.
I would greatly appreciate it!
A bit of history: I have mudullary sponge kidneys, and am now told that they tend to form stones, due to the urine getting trapped in the pockets.
August 7th I started having severe lower back pain and blood in my urine. AFter going to the hospital, and having a cat scan it was diagnosed that I have two stones in the ureter (5mm and 6mm) and one large stone in the left kidney, (8x11mm) and several small stones in the left kidney, sized 3mm to 5mm. I have one in the right kidney (7mm).
The pain and blood stopped on that first day, to return two days later. It was even more severe then, and lasted several hours. I suspect I MAY have passed it that day, but it is unknown if I did or not.
The urologist I am seeing wants me to have another cat scan to see if the two stones in the ureter are partially blocked or if the stones have passed. She is then recommending that I have lithotripsey done on Aug. 28th.
She further told me that since I tend to make stones, this will continue to be a problem, and also that lithotripsey is not advisable very many times. So, I am left with feeling that I must do something alternative to take care of this problem.
I have started on Dr. Richard Schultz's stone dissolving routine, which is a concoction of apple juice, lemon juice, lime juice, apple cider vinegar, and his herbal tincture for kidney bladder and his herbal tea for kidney bladder. I am planning to do the kidney cleanse also. I know the protocol for order of cleansing is 1)the colon: 2) the liver; and 3) the kidneys, but since this is an immediate concern, I wonder if just doing the kidney cleanse would be ok? Especially since if it works, and it can be seen on a cat scan on Aug 26th that the stones have dissolved or are smaller, then I would not have to have the surgery on the 28th.
I am wondering if I am on the right track to be doing this, or if anyone out there has any other ideas for me. Have you found something that can dissolve stones? And would it work on stones this large?

your large stones in the short period of
time you have before next scan, but what
you are considering doing is what I would
be doing to try to dissolve them. I would
also include asparagus root extract.

I would suggest doing whatever you can
so perhaps your scan will show progress
and you can buy time to continue making
more progress. Be sure to drink plenty
of pure, filtered water. Watermelon tea
or juice is also good to flush the kidneys,
although not too much if your urine output
right now is compromised.

This is a reply to # 1,474,641Hi Chili Pepper- good to see you around again, but not so much under these conditions huh? I've heard the stones are really painful when they are passed.
I remember reading this about phosphoric acid, which is what the "Coke flush" uses with the apple juice for 3 days prior to liver flushing. From the information I've found about it, one of the main things it does is helps dissolve calcified stones- but liver/ Gallstones and kidney stones.

The first notable area of study has validated chanca piedra's longstanding traditional use for kidney stones. In 1990, the Paulista School of Medicine in São Paulo, Brazil, conducted studies with humans and rats with kidney stones. They were given a simple tea of chanca piedra for 1-3 months and it was reported that the tea promoted the elimination of stones. They also reported a significant increase in urine output as well as sodium and creatine excretion. Subsequently the medical school educated new doctors about the ability to treat kidney stones with this natural remedy and now it is found in many pharmacies throughout Brazil.
In a 1999 in vitro clinical study, a chanca piedra extract exhibited the ability to block the formation of calcium oxalate crystals (the building blocks of most kidney stones) which indicates that it might be a useful preventative aid for people with a history of kidney stones. In a 2002 in vivo study, researchers seeded the bladders of rats with calcium oxalate crystals and treated them for 42 days with a water extract of chanca piedra. Their results indicated that chanca piedra strongly inhibited the growth and number of stones formed over the control group. Several of the animals even passed the stones which did form. Most recently (in 2003), scientists again confirmed in vitro that chanca piedra could help prevent the formation of kidney stones stating, ". . . that it may interfere with the early stages of stone formation and may represent an alternative form of treatment and/or prevention of urolithiasis."
Previously (in the mid-1980s) the antispasmodic activity of chanca piedra was reported. This led researchers to surmise that "smooth muscle relaxation within the urinary or biliary tract probably facilitates the expulsion of kidney or bladder calculi." Researchers had already reported chanca piedra's antispasmodic properties and smooth muscle relaxant properties (including a uterine relaxant effect) in earlier studies. In 1990, Nicole Maxwell reported that Dr. Wolfram Wiemann (of Nuremburg, Germany) treated over 100 kidney stone patients with chanca piedra obtained in Peru and found it to be 94% successful in eliminating stones within a week or two.

I also asked Zoe, and wondering if you too have heard of Renavive. I found it mentioned in some old posts about kidney stones. If you want to google it and let me know what you think. I think I will contact the company and ask more about it. A little scary to buy stuff online without some recommendation. But it sounds like it is very effective.

Thanks for this information. I have not read it all yet, but will, and wanted to say thank you before I read it.
Also, I read about a product that a few people on curezone discussed (in older posts) that SOUNDS effective. But, it can be scary to buy something online without knowing someone who has actually used it. It is called Renavive. It is supposed to dissolve stones, and be all natural. The ingredients in it are latin names, so, it is "greek" to me, or Latin, as the case may be. Wondering if you've heard of it, or if you want to read about it and let me know what you think.

of before. If the main ingredient
is Chanca piedra, then I imagine
you could use that to relax your
body so you can expel the stones.
Chanca Piedra has a 94% success
rate by itself. That is impressive

What I am not impressed with is the
cost of the product you are asking
about, and the fact that some of

cannot be divulged and there is a
patent pending on them. This would
suggest it is genetically modified
or tweaked. That it had an FDA
approval also raises a flag for me.
Personally, it would be something I
would google each ingredient they
do give and see if that appeals to
me. Otherwise, there are good options.

I would try. It is close to MH's
formula. I also like Planetary Herbals,
Stone-Free. I would probably add the
Chanca Piedra to it since it is an
anti-spasmodic. I would probably use

Perhaps the easiest way to get rid of kidney stones is to purchase 20 - 100 kg of watermelon (few huge melons), sit in a bath filled with water, eat all the watermelon throughout a day (as much as you can), while continually empting your urinary bladder into the water.
From what I have read, a person can eliminate even large stones this way in a single day and pass them as well as small sand-like kindney stones out of the body.
I know some other good remedies too, but most of those take a week or longer.
People who have a problem with kidney stones would be well advised to continue to consume watermelon on a regular basis and to cut back on tea, cocoa, chocolate, meats, breads, cereals, pastas, and carbonated drinks,

This is a reply to # 1,474,758Thanks DQ. I just read about the Watermelon idea somewhere else tonight. I intuitively have been consuming LOTS of Watermelon and Watermelon juice, and watermelon seed tea.
I don't drink any of the above BUT I DO have a problem, at times, with chocolate.
What are the other remedies you mentioned? I've got a week! Just trying to find out as much as I can now.

Well, there have already been some good ones posted. Here are a couple more:
"Chicken Bone Grass" herb, dried red dates and water. This is an ancient remedy from China that works very well on kidney stones. Simmer all ingredients in three cups of water until reduced to only one cup of water. Drink it twice a day and repeat for 10 days. The kidney stone should be dissolved and reportedly should never grow back. "Chicken Bone Grass" is a common herb which can be found in Chinese herb shops. This remedy also works on gallstones. A variation of this remedy is to make a tea out of HB Abrus frutus losus, dried red dates and water and drink twice a day for three weeks. Also listed as a remedy for gallstones.
and there is the Hulda Clark formula:
Designed by Dr. Hulda Clark from her book "The Cure for All Disease", explains in detail how to cleanse the kidneys, and her cleansing program will get rid of most if not all the stones, WITHOUT surgery.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup dried Hydrangea root
1/2 cup Gravel root
1/2 cup Marshmallow root
4 bunches of fresh parsley
Goldenrod tincture (leave this out of the recipe if you are allergic to it)
Ginger Capsules
Uva Ursi capsules
Vegetable glycerine
Vitamin B6 250mg
Magnesium oxide 300mg or 1/4 cup Green Drink BeverageMeasure ¼ cup of each root and set them to soak, Together in 10 cups of cold tap water, using a non-metal container and a non-metal lid (a dinner plate will do). After four hours (or over night), bring liquid with soaked herbs to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes. Drink a ¼ cup as soon as it is cool enough. Pour the rest in through a bamboo or plastic strainer into a sterile pint jar (glass) and several freezable containers. Refrigerate the glass jar.
Find fresh parsley at a grocery store that does not spray its produce (ask the owner). Boil the fresh parsley, after rinsing, in 1 quart of water for 3 minutes. Strain out the liquid, then drink ¼ cup when cool enough. Refrigerate a pint and freeze 1 pint. Put the cooked parsley in your compost bucket.
Dose: each morning, pour together ¾ cup of the root mixture and ½ cup parsley water, filling a large mug. Add 20 drops of goldenrod tincture and 1 tbs. of glycerin.
Drink this mixture in divided doses throughout the day. Keep cold. Do not drink it all at once or you will get a stomach ache and feel pressure in the bladder. If your stomach is very sensitive, start on half this dose.
Save the roots after the first boiling, storing them in the freezer. After 13 days when your supply runs low, boil the same roots a second time, but add only 6 cups water and simmer only 10 minutes. This will last another 8 days, for a total of three weeks. You may cook the roots a third time if you wish, but the recipe gets less potent. If your problem is severe, only cook them twice.
After three weeks, repeat with fresh herbs. You need to do the kidney cleanse for six weeks to get good results, longer for severe problems.
Also take:
Ginger capsules: one with each meal (3/day).
Uva Ursi capsules: one with breakfast and two with supper
Vitamin B6 (250mg): one per day
Magnesium oxide (300mg): one a dayTake these supplements just before your meal to avoid burping.
Some notes on this recipe: this herbal tea, as well as the parsley, can easily spoil. Heat it to boiling every fourth day if it is being stored in the refrigerator; this resterilizes it. If you sterilize it in the morning you may take it to work without refrigerating it (use a glass container).
There are probably dozens of herbs that can dissolve kidney crystals and stones. If you can only find several of those in the recipe, make the recipe anyway; it will just take longer to get results. Remember that vitamin B6 and magnesium taken daily can prevent oxalate stones from forming. But only if you stop drinking regular tea and cocoa.
My favorite remains watermelon. If I had to rely on any single commercial product though, I would choose this one hands down: "Stone Breaker" from Baseline Nutritionals formulated by Jon Barron:

I don't know if I can overdo it? Will I stress out my kidneys by using too may herbs?
And, is it REALLY possible to "dissolve" stones that are this big? 8x11mm?

Is it possible? Could well be - I would get the Stonebreaker, several watermelons, and sit in the bath eating melons as per the instructions.
To answer your questions, taking a lot of herbs and/or other supplements can put stress on the kidneys but I would think that should not be as much the case when it is herbs designed to cleanse and flush the kidneys.

In the meantime, I just finished my second round of two days on the stone dissolving concoction that Shultz recommends. Ready to start the 5 day kidney cleanse tomorrow with Shultz herbs. I'll be doing some other things which I am learning about here, to follow up after that.
I'm visualizing that these buggers are getting smaller and smaller by the moment!!
