I've become more and more skeptical of all the supplements, cleanses, and other protocols to heal people's health problems. Not to say they don't work or help, but since posting here, seems like a low percentage of them work. Even with a lot of people experiencing good results with NB, I started to wonder if it's the expensive supplements that have helped, or is it mostly the change in diet and lifestyle. I've since been advocating using foods and diet to heal, instead of all those expensive health product promises.
For Dr. Graham to say it's not even the foods the heal us, but the absence of harmful foods, that's pretty provocative, but it really resonated with me. In my case where I healed my worst health problem within a week doing a veggie juice fast, I assumed it was mostly due to the power of the juiced vegetables, not really thinking it was also the absence of certain foods I used to eat. I've kept those symptoms away from what I thought was eating the right foods, but it's just as much avoiding the wrong foods.
Food for thought, literally.
Keep this in mind next time you're tempted to spend money on your next supplement, cleanse packet, electronic gizmo, or other health promise product or diet plan.

I play squash weekly, I weight lift, party every weekend, and work long hours for months on end. I pay for that, for sure, and the excess work is catching up with me again, but it's a big change from years ago.

60 hours weeks are a bit too much for me still, and sleep has become more disturbed, but really nothing a month long holiday won't fix.

This is a reply to # 2,037,803Yes. You can't rely on nutrition to heal you.
However, I want to clear up about the doctor saying that certain foods are harming you..
It's not that these "harmful" foods are causing the symptoms we feel. Because we are ill, our systems (digestive, immune, etc) are not functioning properly. So when we eat certain foods, there is intolerance, allergies, but more importantly energy requirements.
This energy reallocation causes symptoms to come to the surface that are already present. It's a matter of REPRESSION. Basically, these foods are stressors. This same concept applies to bacterial infections (candida, Lyme, etc) as well.
I've been saying this for a long time now haven't I Natway?

MoreThis is a reply to # 2,038,287Stress, toxins, bacteria, viruses, who knows and sometimes it's not one thing but a combo of several together.
Isn't a diet in veggies and fruits also a protocol and a way to cleanse? These are the foods that naturally help us detox the most`. I can say I am not sure if just doing veggies and fruits alone would have helped me heal enough, I just didn't do it that way. I have taken a lot of supplements the last 4 years and there are many that helped me heal tremendously. Another thing to consider is that fruits and veggies grown now are not nearly as rich in vitamins and minerals as they used to be 200 years ago.

This is a reply to # 2,038,475I'm not saying a bad diet is the only way to get sick, not at all, but I hardly see people on here who's diet hasn't contributed to their illness. I bad diet is stressful and toxic to the body.
I've always heard fruits and veggies are the best foods from cleansing, but then again as Dr. Graham says, when people cleanse on fruits and veggies, they are also avoiding all the toxic harmful foods. I'm not saying I totally agree with Dr. Graham's statement, but I think I mostly due. I know Vit C is one of the best nutrients for cleansing and fruits are the highest foods in Vit C. Would only make sense to have a diet high in fruits especially when humans can't synthesize Vit C like other animals and insects can.
I've always heard fruits & veggies aren't as nutritious as in the past, but if they are so devoid of nutrients these days, how could they still grow and look like the fruits & veggies they are?
I think everyone should look at the people who make that claim that fruits & veggies just aren't nutritious as they were in the past. Most of those people are trying to sell you supplements.

This is a reply to # 2,037,803There is a lot of trial and error and misinformation. Foods do heal. Alkaline foods buffer the acids that cause disease. Sometimes the disease gets to the point of being difficult to heal like Arthritis in which case drastic food action needs to be taken such as a juice fast. There are those that have healed from cancer,diabetes, arthritis, and other disease with the addition or deletion some some foods or by juicing, fasting or both.

Lifestyle will either support survival or interfere with it.
The Human being is a functional omnivore as far as science/facts goes.

This is a reply to # 2,037,803Personally, I don't take much supplements. I would rather get my required vitamins and minerals from natural sources like fruits and veggies. There are researches linking Vitamin C to kidney stones in men.
