While some people with Sjögren's syndrome may develop Exfoliative cheilitis, I personally doubt that one causes the other.
Most people on this forum have no signs of Sjögren's syndrome, and quite many are male.
It is more likely that both syndromes may have similar causative agents, and may be linked to damaged microbiota.
There are more than 5 people on this forum who 100% cured Exfoliative cheilitis by eliminating gluten from their diet and environment.
Sjögren's syndrome patients show high sensitivity to gluten.
Both syndromes are worsened by diet high in inflammatory foods. That is another link to microbiota and digestive tract.
A typical Western diet and lifestyle is known to contain many pro-inflammatory substances that predisposes towards inflammation and autoimmune disorders.
Elimination of pro-inflammatory substances like tomatoes, night shades, sugar, gluten, wheat, lactose, margarine, processed foods, food
additives and food
preservatives help to reduce the risk and severity of Sjögren's syndrome.
This has been documented by scientific studies. (Liden, M. et al. Gluten sensitivity in patients with primary Sjogren's syndrome. Scand. J. Gastroenterol. 42, 962-962 (2007).)
Elimination of the same kind of pro-inflammatory substances have helped to at least 50 people on this forum to cure Exfoliative cheilitis or to keep it under control.
Moderate exercise is also found be helpful in Sjögren's syndrome.
The same with EC.
That is why I believe that both Sjogren's syndrome and Exfoliative cheilitis are actually caused by
Antibiotics and synthetic steroids like synthetic hormonal birth control.
How old have you been when you developed the Sjögren's syndrome?
How old have you been when you developed the Exfoliative cheilitis ?
Have you used any synthetic hormonal birth control prior to developing any of those?
Have you used any
Antibiotics prior to developing any of those?
If I were you, I would research
Antibiotics Antibiotic induced diseases, and also FMT.
Until that, watch what you put in your mouth.
