Hello everyone, I will be starting a 40 day combo dry and Water Fast on the 9th of September. I am being supervised by two Natropath Dr's, today I had my base line labs done. I will also get labs,and UA on the 8th, when I end my dry fast, and each week after until I completed my fast. I will be monitoring my vitals daily from home and contacting my Dr when ever nessisary.
I have been on a taper diet for the last three weeks, each week I cut out diffrent foods. 1st I cut out meat, then grains, nuts and seeds, then fruits, tomorrow I start on broth for the final week before my fast begins.
I will be going in for colonic during my fast, one before I start the fast one midway and one at the end. I will also be seeing my Acupuncturist, a massage therapist. I will be using a Far Infared Sauna and hydrotherapy, both are provided at my ND's clinic.
I am planning on using essential oils in a difuser, but am not sure about topical application during the fast. Dose anyone have insight on this? I also will be using castor oil packs, and dry brushing.
My dry fast will be soft because I can't not wash my hands after using the bathroom, but no showers or brushing my teeth with water. I think I will try for five days, but I will just go by what my body us telling me.
My goal are to heal a perilymp fistula(the first two weeks of my fast I will be on bed rest to facilitate the healing of the inner ear,)shrink my goiter, resolve an ongoing fungle infection. Heal my dental issues, and ballance my hormones.
Throughout this prosses I will be listing to my body, if I need to change something I have no problem with that. I will be keeping a video journal on YouTube. I have no skills with editing or film making but if anyone would like to watch my journey I will be happy to post a link.
I have been planning this fast for 5 months now, I am so ready to start.
A bit of background I completed a 21 day Water Fast 3 years ago, I regularly intermintint fast. I completed my first dry fast in July 84hrs, followed by a 4 day water fast.

This is a reply to # 2,274,315The fast is a part of my lyme disease treatment and from the good things I've read about fasting, probably a very important part.
The infection was unchecked for over a decade so the symptoms really started piling up, hoping to see some calming of brain inflammation and stomach problems via the fast.
Today is my second day! Going well, I am supervised by a Doc and will be breaking the fast earlier if necessary,
Really interested in dry fasting now that I read your older posts, I'll be sure to try it in the future. :D

This is a reply to # 2,274,542How many videos can you see? I think I may just change the settings so you can search for them, I am nor really sure what I am worried about anyway.
Today has been a good day, pretty high activity levle, I walked a few miles. Climbed around rock cliff at the beach. I did get a but winded but nothing bad at all.
I will be home tomorrow and back to my normal routine. I hope to be able to walk a mile a day prior and after bedrest.

I remember you. We have helped each other during our fasts a year ago.
I think your plan is reasonably good, especiaally having NDs around to help. However, there are a few things that are controversial and I am stating my opinion having tried everything during my fasts.
I know that saunas and colonics, enemas are all enervating practices. Intelligent animal tries to push the envelope. If we were to look at nature, there are many animals fasting for much longer time than us two legged one. They do not have to clean their colons, they don't have to have saunas, in fact most animals fasting are in cold weather so they do not even see the sun. I like sun bathing as a source of getting warmth and Vitamin D. I like the idea of acupuncture during a fast, but I have never experienced that so you have to keep us all posted.
Castor oil rubs, packs and massages are good during a fast.
If you want to clean your colon before your fast that is ok, but in the middle of a fast is not necessary. I have flushed my colon many times with either Vitamin C or salt water prior to commencement of my fasts.
Please be very careful of going in and out of dry fast. Water has to be taken in very slowly after a dry fast. Please read some of hghbuzz's posts on Dry Fasting forum.

This is a reply to # 2,274,326I have read Dr Filanov's book, when he talks about how animals fast it really makes sense. Both of my Dr's feel the colonics and Sauna are a good idea so I am going to try it and see how I feel. One of the Dr's on my team had a internship at True North, I do have confidence in them. If it dose not work out I can easily change the plan with their help.
I think you may have me confused with someone els, I only joined this forum in the spring. I am really looking forward to getting feedback from everyone here.
My last dry fast was really smooth, hopefully this one will be as well. I definitely taper in and out slowly.
Dose anyone have experience extending the dry fast by adding small ammounts of water when nessisaray? For example if I can go 5 days dry, then add a bit of water on day 6 can I continue on day 7 and go dry for abother day or so? I can't really see this working for me, but I do think I might be able to extend the dry fasting by soaking in a bath. I would love to stay dry as long as possible but I definitely don't want to stress my system.

This is a reply to # 2,274,357Sure you should try sauna and colonics, but logically speaking if you do one colonics before the fast, your colon will have nothing afterwards. All other junk that body wants to throw out it will come when ready during your fast.

There are many posters on dry fasting forum who drink a few sips of water to continue dry fasting. Check posts from "fonty", he was big on dry fast and of course "hghbuzz".

This is a reply to # 2,274,526I forgot to share some interesting changes I am experiencing. It's been 2 days on broth only, my body temperature had taken a drastic drop. I am camping and I am dresses like it's snowing out! Other than that things are good my energy is good, I walked on the beach, gathered drift wood, and went for a bike ride. I have not been hungry the broth is satisfying me. I am drinking 8 cups of broth a day. Pluss an additional 2-4 glasses of water or tea. I think I drunk more for the warmth than the fluids or nutrients.

This is a reply to # 2,274,527What kind of broth are you making? Is it canned broth?
Low body temperature may have something to do with hypothyroid. If possible check your basal temperature first thing in the morning. Below 96 degree temp means you have hypothyroid.

This is a reply to # 2,274,553My broth is home made, I put onion, garlic, sweet potato, leek, fennel, seaweed, parsley, thyme, bay leaf, peppercorn, allspice and cayenne.
When I get home I will take my temperature, right now I am camping and do not have access to a thermometer.
I am starting my fast and two weeks of bedrest on the 9th. I feel very ready.

This is a reply to # 2,274,728I am home now, on day 4 of broth. This has been the hardest thing I have done by far. I feel my energy dropping fast, my body is still looking for food and not getting any. I can't wait to start my dry fast.
I have decided to try for a complete dry fast. The reason I was not ok with it was not being able to wash my hands after using the toilet. I have not had a BM sense Thursday AM. I have a colonic scheduled for tomorrow. I really don't see an issue with fecal matter at this point. Urine dose not really bother me so I think I will be ok with skipping handwashing.
I am still cold, but I forgot to put a thermometer next to the ned. I will check tomorrow morning.

This is a reply to # 2,274,999I am so ready to be done with broth. I just don't feel good.Heartburn, nausea, sluggish. Yesterday I had very loose watery stool. I am greatfull that I have a colonic scheduled this afternoon, I want everything put of my system.
I am still running cold but for the life of me I can't seem to remember tO 5akw my temp before I get up. I am going to ask DH to do it for me, perhaps between the two of us it will happen.

This is a reply to # 2,275,138First day of my dry fast, I am 12 house in and feeling just fine. I decided to change from broth to water yesterday. I have been fasting for a total of 48 hours and I think ketosis is starting. My hunger has dropped significantly in the last few hours.
I had my colonic yesterday, that was a unique experience, I am so glad I did it. I really thought that after not eating anything for a week I would be pretty cleaned out. I was wrong, I now see why ,my Dr suggested another in the middle of my fadt I am sure there is more to purge.
My vitals weight, 164.4, temp 99.1, BP 85/57, plus 88. I have urinated 4x yellow in color, moderate stomach pain, mild head ache. Moderate nausea, mild heart burn.
I am on bed rest untill the 23rd, I have plenty to keep me occupied, a few books I have not got around to reading, a coloring book I am excited to start. A few series on Netflix I am going to bing on, and a few games on my tablet to play. Of course I along plan on devoting much time to prayer and meditation as well.
I have a question for the ladies, how did your breasts recover after an extended fast? 1 lbs a day is what I expect to loose, 134 on a 5"10 frame dose not leave much in the way of fat. This is a reply to # 2,275,425Day two has been rough, low energy feeling woozy. My attitude is much better than yesterday, I am feeling positive. I have been sleeping most of the day. I used my essential oils and they really helped my stomach pain and woozy feeling. My nausea and heart burn are improving. I got a call from my Dr about my labs, my sodium is a but low, but not at a point she feels I need to supplement.

This is a reply to # 2,275,602Day three has been tough as well, very low energy, stomach ache and tacky mouth. It's hard to talk. I have been using a combo of peppermint and fennel essential oils and it really helps the stomach dicomfert, and give me a little energy boost. I have been very introspective. Eating thing that help ,e focas on my spirituality. I keep thing about breaking the dry fast early, but I really don't want to. Praying for strength and the ability to really listen to my body's boundries.

This is a reply to # 2,275,951I did end up breaking the hard dry fast. Yestetday atounf 12:00pm. My body needed a change. I have a humidifier going next to my bed. I took a detox bath with clay Sea Salt and Epsom Salts . I have also been rinsing my mouth out with weater, being carful not to swollow any. My mouth feels acidic as if I have been vomiting, the taste and smell are making me ill. Today I made mouth wash. Aloe, distilled water glycerin lemon peppermint and stevia. This is definitely going to help me get though untill tomorrow.
I have never had such a tough time on a fast. I wonder if it's the bedtest, being unable to flush my lymphatic system? Or doing to many days of broth. Today my Sister said "Normaly when you fast your so happy,this time you look dead"
I really feel that way. I did have a breakthrough yesterday, I was ready to break my fast. I was scared because I was feeling so ill, and knowing I still have a long way to go was freaking my out. I prayed that I would move forward for the right reasons, that I would
listen to my body. I read a few fastin bloge, property having far worse symptoms that ,e, and I realized that my vitals are steady, this is just some sort of healing crisis. That's a good thing. So I got over my first hump.
Essentially ois have been amazing, fennel and peppermint for my stomach pain, ceaderwood for emotional issues that have been overpowering. Peppermint and lemon for my difuser and detox baths.
I did not sleep well last night. I need another detox bath, my kidneys are aching.

I've done 270 days of fasting over the last 5 years. It would have been amazing to see the blood work.
