"People who start gaining weight despite following their regular routines and eating habits might have colonised a specific type of bacteria in their guts."
That bacteria might be involved in a CTP OTS situation, more on that later.
More and more, mainstream medicine is starting to admit that bacteria and viruses are the cause of diseases. This fact has been ignored for so long, with so many unfortunate victims of illnesses that just do not seem to have a solution. THat is because we were not looking in the right places.
Bacteria, or causes of illness, are not big priorities of mainstream [corporate]medicine. They just want to sell us pills that deal with the symptoms, and never cure the illness or look into its cause, because that would end the need for taking pills [if the illness was cured].
I have felt strongly for many years that the cause of most, or at least MANY illnesses, including the ones i suffer from, are bacerial/viral caused. That is why no doctors have ever been able to help me get over them.
Also, TEETH are rotten from bacterials, but do we attack those? NO!! in Britian, they made a LAW that says no dirlling of cavities under age 12, and instead place a balloon around the cavity-tooth and pump OZONE into it for 5 minutes, and with three treatments those cavities are GONE!! This is ignored in north america, where we drill the enamel and therefore create life-long customers for dentites.
The dental story is repeated in so many health problems. At this point, it could be asked if I think the medical industry is doing it this way ON PURPOSE, just fr better profits... and I say "absolutely". Yes, they do - think about "how far would they go" and compare to GW Bush who massacres 100s of 1000s of Iraqis just for his 'oil-friends' by lying about WMD and so on, and you can see the darkness that has invaded our lives.
Yes, we do get maltreated and made chronically ill by doctors, just for the profits it brings. The ignoring of bacterial causes of illness is proof of that. Treating bacterial infections without Antibiotics would be the humane way to address illnesses from cancer to heartburn and obietiy to Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Now, if only there was some way to get this message out....

MoreThis is a reply to # 796,039absolutely!! i truly belive that probiotics are key to so many health issues. i also belive that most probiotic supplements on the market today are very weak, low in live organism count, and some of them are mostly worthless. the only way to truly address the bad bacteria problem is to have a healthy colony of good bacteria that out compete the bad bacteria for food.
humans have been consuming bacteria as part of their diet for millenia. going out into the garden, pulling up a carrot, brushing off hte dirt and chowing down, will lead to eating lots of bacteria. thats really how we were meant to live, not in the hyper anti septic world we have created for ourselves.

I COMPLETELY agree. However, I believe that the soil is not good anymore and loaded with chemicals. For instance, take a garden that you have created (NICE!). Now water it with a hose(rubber-chemicals), city water(chlorine, flouride, etc), pesticides (not putting on your garden but the ones lurking from your weed-free grass, etc.) Oh yeah - and wait for the rain - acid rain.
I REALLY wonder what food tasted like BEFORE chemicals.

Family on my mother and fathers side lived in the country and hills respectively and I can honestly say that I REMEMBER when mom and dad began complaining about foods that had little to no taste... about 40 years ago when they moved to N.J. across the river from Philadelphia, from an upstate N.Y. country home.
We had almost 3 acres of gardens between us and the neighbors on all sides... man that was eatin' as young as I was, I remember it and there has been nothing like it since, even my own home grown stuff now. Of course we spent as much time building the soil as doing anything else.
I think it had a little to do with the stay at home mom and such to, that lent itself to more of that type of lifestyle.

This is a reply to # 796,075we had a garden also as a kid. one thing i specifically remember was how fantastically flavourful the potatoes were. i mean of all things, you think of potatoes as bland and boring, but not these! i also remember digging up the peanuts and eating them with the shells still on.

From what I understand, the food in Europe tastes much better than here in the states. This is coming from relatives and friends who have visited "the ole country" and reports coming back about how delicious and vibrant flavors of all the food. Now I don't know how much different it is over there as far as chemicals on food but I would imagine that it would be much less. Villagers go to the market everyday to pick fresh fruits and veggies for each meal while we(Americans) go to (osto and buy loads to stuff in the fridge for later use! :D

but i was more talking about the UNHEALTHY conditions created by BAD bacterials and viruses, illnesss where they are the CAUSE, but that cause is ignored by doctors and so they just treat the symptoms!!
Isn't my thought getting thru at all???
Or is it just so hard to agree with an athiest about anything? Bacterials causes diseases, and they are ignored as a causes of diseases, eg HEARTBURN where we take ptoton pumkp inhibitors but really we need Colloidal Silver and so on to kill the offending H Pylori bacteria.
Sometimes I think there are people here who post stuff just to take us off topic. Sorry faith, I am really ranting at you here... I just need to know my message was clear, but I get NO feedback on that...nada, nothing, zip, neg, stiff, not.

This is a reply to # 797,095on yes, i do see your point, and its a good one. my response to that point, however, is jsut pointing out that really its not bacteria that cause the illness, rather its IMBALANCE of bacteria levels that cuase the problem. by this i mean the bad bacteria are ALWAYS there in your system, but as long as they are outnumbered by the good guys, things are fine. its when the bad bacteria gain the upper hand that problems arise.
so yes, i do agree that bacteria are the cause of many diseases and that this is often overlooked.

Some would most likely argue that we have more bacteria than cells in our bodies. In addition, there is much information on the polymorphic behavior of our cells. Given the wrong foods and environment, our cells can go from being good to us, to turning on us... all in an effort to keep the body alive and viable as long as possible.

My goodness, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to add up: steroids + Antibiotics + refined Sugar + food dyes = sick people! Does anyone have the nerve to act surprised, anymore, when we see that over half of our preadolescent population is overweight and another 30% are morbidly obese?
The chicken (and, eggs) that we purchase in mega-grocery stores are full of toxins. Ever wonder why you have to add so much seasoning to chicken to make it taste like anything? Try some free-range chicken! It's flavorful, drug/steroid-free, and fantastic! Same goes with beef - no wonder so many 12 year old girls are wearing size 11 shoes and commencing puberty at 9 years of age! And, the insecticides and growth hormones that are soaked up by our vegetables and fruits have WARNING labels on them, for criminy sakes! If they'r feeding that stuff to the plants, the plants absorb chemicals, and we eat the plants....sheeeeeeeesh!
And, does anyone think that the Amer. Medical Assoc. is interested in any of this? Heck, NO! With sick people come many office visits - with many office visits come new BMW's and trips to the Mediterranean! Our current culture is killing us, I believe, and the previous posts are on target, I feel! I keep my own garden using worm castings to amend the soil and there are a number of vegetables and fruits that can be container-grown for those people who don't have space for a full-on garden.
Next, we've been looking at raising up our own meat, but I don't think I could name a pig, "Bacon," and raise it just to eat it - I'm a wimpy thang!

This is a reply to # 796,198we did just that as a kid in arkansas - one pig was named bacon and the other was porkchop. we ate our own chickens and rabbits, too. the milk came from a neighbor in a glass jug that you could see the cream floating on top. and the tomatoes - they were to die for.

It would seem to be this way, wouldn't it. I agree ABSOLUTELY.
I should add that the 'bacterial cause of illnesses' is a possibility, but it may all go beyond 'just bacteria', so I'd keep my eyes open.
In my opinion, and mark these words, It may not be just bacteria that one should worry about, but of course it's just a thought.

Thereare toxins, there is stress, there is diet, there are many OTHER things other than bacterials and viri that are affecting our health in a negative way.
I just want modern medicine to get its head out of its arse and deal with those things that ARE bacterial and viral...

There are also a bunch of micro-organisms other than bacteria possibly wreaking havoc, as far as evidence seems to suggest. That's why I'm suggesting that maybe we should keep our eyes wide open for different possibilities.
Maybe it's wishful thinking, but someday, perhaps, SOMEONE will be held accountable for the crimes against the planet that are happening in the form of malpractices, greed and medical [and need I say it, pharmaceutical] corruption.
In such a day, you can COUNT on it, I'll be having a party!

if "they" would do this "they" would find that it is all about environment, both internal and external AND not any one thing. It is not about killing or destroying bacteria and viri, it is about living in an environemnt, both internal and external that minimizes the proliferation and development of bad bacteria and viri. this requires clean insides and outsides, enough said.
"they" spend way to much time and an obscene amount of money arguing and fighting about this and that cause or relationship to disease all the while ignoring or worse oblivious to the obvious because there is no money in it...
