I haven't heard of the strings coming off. Typically, when the strings can't be found it means it's lost and could be perforating your uterus. This is very serious. Sorry to scare you, but I would insist on them checking to see if it's still in place even if that requires an ultrasound. There are women here who have had surgery to have it removed. And even if it's "going to be difficult to remove", if you want it out, then by all means get it out! Don't let them bully you. This is your body and it's your right to have it removed. Don't be afraid to make a scene, yell, scream, whatever you have to do. If I could go with you, I would. Don't let them make you feel crazy. You're not. What you are feeling is real and justified.
