DONT USE HARSH Steroids or suppressants!

Hi
Dont use harsh steroids or suppressants. My son has thinned skin in places. And there is no way we would use suppressants.Ever! But some people have to use them depending on how bad they are. Before you do use them, make sure you have tried everything else the natural way. I other words you have exhausted all other avenues.
I know from experience. These are bad for you and you want to avoid if at all possible. Read up on these things, they are not good. You need to find the cause. Read on to get natural holistic tips to avoid eczema. I can only try and help other people.

Like everyone else, our whole lives are filled with experimenting with everything to help our son.Dermotologists only want to shove harsh steroid creams or immunosuppressants into our 7 year old son. Thats not a life. If he was on suppressants he would get really really sick if he got a cold or even fatal illnesses from a suppressed immune system.

We have seen immunologists, dieticians and Dermo's for years. Just recently a naturapath. The Dermo's have only treated the symptoms after the reactions. We all know eczema is a disease so we need to take control of it, Not treat the aftermath.

The naturapath was the best so far. She has the right idea...eg lets get to the bottom of whats causing it and eradicate any possible causes in the mean time. She also looks at stress and other factors. I can tell everyone a few pointers from everything Ive learnt.and even from my mum who treated me when I was severe and flown to Camperdown wrapped up like a mummy. Now my poor son has it and we have treated him for years.

TESTING
Get tested (Pricktested) for allergies Even I did and I found out I had allergies to things I wouldnt even think of such as Blue Gum and Eucalypt trees. Simple..my son has it done atleast once a year.

TEMPERATURE
Stay cool. I know from experience, hot skin causes flare ups and itchiness. In fact that was the only time I ever scratched.

FOOD
Eat a balanced organic healthy Diet and don't put any stress on your liver with fatty foods and too much gluten or sugar. Only eat wholegrain...ever.Sugar suppresses the immune system.
Apparently out of all the eczema sufferers they tested in a study, most had bowel problems and their bodies were not digesting all the gluten, sugars, colours, preservatives and processed foods, therefore stressing the body. When the body stresses it comes out through the skin. Oh and try not to eat foods high in natural flavours (salicilates and amines). Any acidic fruits, tomatoes, honey. There is a huge link between these foods and allergies. I can tell people what foods these are. The dietician at the hospital took these out of the diet and slowly introduced them again one by one. I read articles at Uni and half of every person taken OFF cows milk had their eczema go away. My new son is on breast milk and goats milk. My son is trialling lactose free milk and that has been OK so far. Not great but OK

ENVIRONMENT
Eradicate as many dust mites as possible. Rip up carpets. Get dust covers for the matress and covers. Get leather lounge etc. Only ever wet wipe to clean dust. Vacuum heaps and mop as much as possible.

Never have pets in the house. I found out it is not only the pet saliva but pets shed dander. The dust mites feed of this dander and it makes their faeces so much stronger. We are allergic to dust mites faeces, mot the dust mites themselves.

Dont use chemicals if possible inside or outside the house. YOU WILL SURVIVE! People think they need to kill everthing with strong bacteria sprays and so on, when they have proven recently that we are actuually causing more allergies by not exposing our children to everyday bacterias and allergens. I clean everything naturally. Eucalyptas oil is great for everthing. Disinfectant, toilet, killing dustmites, find old wife tail stuff. Ask people. BUT if they are already allergic, DONT expose them.

I could go on for ever talking about this stuff.

How we treat our son
quick shower, sorbolene all over body. He is covered with wet and dry bandages all over neck to toe. We do this three times a day. I know what a drain. But it is releif for him. It heals the skin quicker, keeps it cool and keeps allergens out. It also locks the water in the skin. Its like an artificial skin for him. It has been our savour to avoid harsh creams and suppressants.

At night He has a soothing 15 minute QV Flareup oil bath with OATS in a stocking ties up to work as an anti inflammatory.

He eats healthy, stays cool (Number one priority all day) He is allowed to go outside if it is cool enough. He stays active by going to dancing. Sport is so important. We home school him at the moment. School is too hot outside. Lucky we are teachers.

We try to make sure he is always happy and not stressed out (Hard with older brothers). He has his own dust free room (As much as possible)with a cool fan.

We try to make sure he has always got something to do eg playing games, reading jigsaws. He loves doing handstands and head stands. I let him. He loves it. He now goes to dancing classes HIP hop and breakdancing. Good afternoon sport.

This is what I meant about a HOLISTIC approach. The only way. Hit it from all angles.

If you need to ask anymore questions please feel free to ask. We all need to speak about it.
We are going to try allergy desensitization soon to stop the reaction before it happens. I will keep everyone posted. If it works for him, I would definatlely suggest it.We will never give up looking for the best answer. Thanks for reading.

Cheers Seanine
