If you really think that this doctor is not telling his patients to stop smoking and to eat right, I think you've misunderstood him.

Most doctors--certainly oncologists--will tell their patients this. The thing is, the patients just won't do it. Breaking food addiction is one of the hardest things in the world, and smoking right behind it.

I'm sure he has told his patients that if they do better by their bodies, they might not get cancer next time. But even if he hasn't, you would have to be the biggest m.o.r.o.n. on the planet to not know that taking a bad diet, and smoking cause cancer.

I am not standing up for conventional cancer therapies. Slash and burn is the worst way, IMO. But acting like this man is deliberately keeping people ignorant of the causes of cancer is dishonest, and only hurts our cause. He is allowed to make crass, insensitive jokes about his profession. It doesn't necessarily portray his true opinion.
