Re: Have You Left Christianity Behind?
If so why? Any other beliefs you left behind and if so why?
If you are asking if you have influenced me then the answer would be "No". I think I would have taken you more seriously if you didn't push Acharya S as much as you did. To be fair I haven't read all of your posts and I have not seen most of the videos you posted.
I saw the video of the two guys with the shotgun. Their analogy wasn't reflective of what Christianity really is. At least it isn't reflective of mine. God doesn't go around striking people down and forcing them to change their belief systems with shotguns or lightening or whatever way you may think we are thinking. I also thought of the verse "May the one who has never sinned cast the first stone." when I watched that video.
I'm not even sure it is God who sends people to eternal torment. I believe it is God who saves people from it.
If you are interested in some of what I see in a larger perspective. I strongly suspect people cannot find God or disprove the existence of God with our limited thinking left hemisphere abilites. Couple this limitation with things such as pride and other erroneous emotional states and belief systems. If our thinking abilities were so good at finding the truth then, there would be a wider consensus about what the truth is. I am also convinced people are irrational, some more than others.
Some people don't even know what the truth is. Some say there is no truth but if you apply that statement to itself then, what do you get? The statement "There is no truth." is not the truth.
Then you keep saying us Christians have a problem with our self esteem and that is why we turned to Christianity. The problem with that is, that is just not my case. I'm telling you I didn't even know what I was doing when I became a Christian. I feel sorry for those who don't understand it. I think The Lord choose me through his grace.
And more on my larger perspective... I think many people, Christians included, have lost their ways ((or could find a much better way in many ways)) and I don't think our futures are set in stone. Those two things I am reasonably sure of. Just look at your raw food diet and how many Americans don't follow it or even follow 50% of it.
