Re: good summary of both sides of the issue on D...
IC- the same conditions that disrupt proper function in vit d pathways cause a host of other problems that mainstream medicine, and frankly alternative medicine, does not recognize. all of the disease that mainstream medicine now claims are "related to" vit d deficiency (notice only people who are very sloppy with word useage ever say "cause" because there is absolutely no proof there). allergies, arthritis, ms, parkinsons and a long list of other diseases... lyme disease (lyme bacteria is everwhere, even is we don't have "lyme disease" most of has some level of the bacteria)... and of course, this issue exists side by side with the other largely unrecognized titanic health issue... metals. of course we run around calling the symptoms diseases, but its all backwards. what Marshall is saying, and what I am saying is that low vit d blood levels is not a deficiency disease, but rather, a symptom of deeper problems. if you can't get your levels right with some sun, it shows you that you have the deeper problems. taking D3 will then mask the problem and make you feel better, but long term, will suppress your immune system and allow the deeper problem to grow. no one wants to believe this because they love their vit d and think taking vit d is a holistic answer to their problems. but think about it... its not holisitc, and its not natural. its replacing drugs with what we believe is a "vitamin". the trick is, vit d is not a simple vitamin. it acts like a drug.
i find it fascinating that people get so defensive about vit d. so much invested in it that they absolutely refuse to consider the obvious, despite that its all spelled out right in the studies. instead they latch on to short term correlational studies that honestly mean absolutely nothing.
