Re: Fasting (to completion?) - My Journey to Health
... I've prepared myself to be super-watchful this time around, so hopefully with the support from this forum and much reading of Shelton I will get past day two!
Ah yes, i forgot to include reading fasting literature as another big will power enhancer.
I'm definitely keeping busy, but not too much, and also keeping up with a moderate amount of exercise (say half hour walking or jogging per day).
Aye, what i mean here too is to be ready to take a brisk walk each time hunger becomes annoying, however many times per day that might be.
I feel like if I exercise this will keep my muscles from wasting as much as if I didn't exercise - does anybody know if this is correct?
While inactivity leads to muscle atrophy while eating, i'm not certain if in a fast the muscles will waste away faster with inactivity than with activity since there is no new nutrition coming in to feed the trained muscles anyway. Maybe somebody else knows otherwise. In either case the body must feed on some protein that is not being replenished even though it is feeding predominately on fat (at about a 10:1 ratio).
In any case, except for very gently bouncing on the trampoline several times per day for 2 minutes to keep the lymphs moving, I will lay in bed fasting for 30 days with no concern whatsoever that the minimally lost muscle will return exceptionally fast once i begin refeeding and training again. Aside from exercising for the first 2-3 days as a measure to help you through your hunger, i believe the most beneficial fast in terms of cleansing and healing is generally accompanied by minimal activity :).
I certainly don't want to put any unnecessary strain on my body, and expect I'll probably get quite weak for a day or two after today, so I won't push myself if I'm feeling low. Just listening to the body and taking it a day at a time...
All agreed here.
Time will tell if the will is there!
Yes. I really hope you make it. You of all people have so much to gain and i would love to witness it.
Thanks for your well wishes :)
Most welcome :).
