Re: gave blood & adrenals crashed!!

Yes I have. Especially since my AF has been severe the past 3 years. Each time I would have to have blood drawn for tests, I would begin to have anxiety and sweat some right there at the lab. I have hard small veins for the tech. to find. And just the pain from that needle, raises my cortisol and adrenaline. That is why those blood test readings were high on the results. As I struggle with low cortisol most of the time. When stress, even in form of pain or being out in excessive heat to long, causes my ACTH to go into overdrive and send a quick message to my poor worn out adrenals, to secrete more cortisol and adrenaline. The little reserve I build up each time between stressor, gets- again completely depleted.
I remember even about 7 years ago before my AF got bad, I had my ears piersed and the pain from that ( got infected too) caused me to have anxiety and sweat some. The pain lasted all day. I just said to heck with it and took the earring stubs out and let the holes close up.

Did you have initial pain with the injection? Or was sit after? Possibly having alone the blood drawn out, causes enough stress on your body.
Since than, I have gotten a prescription from my doctor for a numbing cream, I can put on one hour prior to having blood drawn. Not completely painless, but a good majority of it relieved.
