This may sound counterintuitive, but several digestive experts I've read say that reflux can actually be caused by having too little stomach acid to digest your food -- a common problem in the U.S., especially since so many of us have candida problems.
If this is the case, taking betaine HCI with each meal should help. There are directions on the bottle, but usually I've heard to start at 1 or 2 per meal and increase each day until you feel a slight burning sensation and then go back down one and that's how many you need.
