Lapis - Re: Peachy and BJ
I checked out that site previously when I ran across one of the (very) numerous mentions of it someone likes to post. Listened to one of the free download meditation things (long), dug around a little bit, read some more. I left with a very distinct oily feeling and rather bad taste in my mouth. Something about selling spirituality through a variation of mind control that, well, reminded me of some whacked upfront version of subliminal programming just seemed .... suspicious. It's like, ok, instead of sneaking the stuff in under your conscious mind, we'll just bypass it entirely via meditation, or something.
And with the benevolent, compassionate, and ever supportive behavior demonstrated by certain of his staunchest promoters here, I'm not at all impressed on the apparent results. Granted, it's not a true unbiased representation of his methods, but combined with the overall feel I get from reading and listening to the spiel, I'll pass.
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but it seems to me like a spiritual sales pitch that pushes right up against the boundaries of mental manipulation, reminiscent of what cult recruiters like to do. Actually, it puts me most in mind of those traveling miracle worker shows done up with a new slicker twist aimed towards bringing newagers into the fold via a very - different - take on meditation and working on "fixing" harder to disprove problems.
But, maybe that's just me - I have been known to be wrong, oh, a few times. ;)
If it makes some people happy, then let them be happy. But it's "not my bag."
May we all find what we need.
