A little progress update with Listerine use...

So I learned about using Listerine in the scalp to help with folliculitis, amongst other issues and I tried it. First, very carefully and small amounts, just applying it with a cotton ball or qtip right on the folliculitis pimples a few times a day just to see how my scalp ( and hair...my dread it to lose all the hair) reacted. Now I have applied it twice on my scalp all over. I just pour it all over my scalp, undiluted and massaged it in and let it sit for an hour before washing hair with JR Ligett's shampoo bar ( wonderful stuff btw)

And so far, so good! All my active pimples on scalp are all gone, besides from small little red marks they left behind but will go away in time, they usually do. I'm going to keep up this new routine, that's one thing that's certain! I'm so glad I learned about it!

Usually, when my folliculitis is in full bloom, a pimple can last for almost two weeks. This time they went away in three days! My scalp seems less red, inflamed, as well. I couldn't be happier! I know it will come back again since I just recently stopped years of using minocykline, but now I have something to fight back with, something that seems to work.

I also have started with an apple cider vinegar rinse after washing hair with the shampoo bar, which I think is helpful for the scalp too. And as I mentioned in my first post, I've ordered the Terrasil ointment too, can't wait to try that out! But, as of now, I just don't have any active pimples, I hope it stays that way for a long time.

Nine/ten weeks ago I started to apply a mix of castor and olive oil to the scalp as well and now I have thousands of sprouting new hairs popping up all over the head, after a nasty bout of telogen effluvium the whole summer. I used to lose clumps of hairs when in the shower, especially when rinsing out the conditioner ( which I completely have stopped using) and also throughout the whole day, hairs everywhere. It became so thin it made me cry. I also had almost like a bald spot in the back of my head in the parting, looked aweful. Made me so self-conscious, I almost didn't want to go outside.

Now it's covered again with the new growth. This TE is something I seem to go through ever so often, but this last one was bad. I suspect it could have a connection with an infected tooth I had in April that required amoxicillin and a root canal. Two months after my hair started to fall out by the handful. Now I hardly lose any at all when showering or run my fingers through it! I hate losing hair, it's the worst I have ever experienced.

Like I said, I'm sure it will happen again, as well as the folliculitis, but now I feel more empowered as I have some tools to fight back with. The worst is to just be clueless in what to do and just watch (and feel) the hair disappear and the aching scalp with it's pimples take over.

I thank the web for that and forums like these. When I was a teen, I just didn't know anything, had no clue in what to do. Now I do.
