Yes, I have heard of it. As early as 1897, Mrs. Ellen White, one of the early leaders in the Seventh-day Adventist denomination, advocated this for seriously ill persons including children. Seventh-day Adventists have long been advocates of healthy lifestyle, natural cures, etc., and average 7 years longer lifespan than others in the United States.
