I've been doing the leave it alone/moisture method for about 6 months or so. It's tough at first but people will come around. Maybe your family is trying to make light of the situation to make it less awkward. Talk to them and tell them how you feel. Get some coconut oil and lightly dab it on your lips throughout the day. A lot of people say that this method won't work but my peeling cycle has slowed down. I'm not cured yet but I'm going to keep trying.
