orthomolecular and other types of fasting

You may choose another type of fasting - fruit&herbal tea fasting; juice fasting. In all these you can have some medication, then you will either discover you don't need your full dose of medication or you need to break the fast due to some interference between the fast and the medication.

I've done the first kind Fruit&herbal few times, but opt for Water Fast know, because it is simpler to do and faster in effects. Fruit&herbal is less tasking, but with slower effect. Ketosis develops if having a total of 800-1500 g of fruit daily and 3-4 tsp of raw honey (maybe you can go with light mapple syrup if allergic to honey; but honey is esp good for mental health) in the warm (but not hot) herbal infusion - depending on the activity level. Expect to be hungry every 2 hrs (and even in between). Should be done about 14 days, max 21 days, since minerals will be in imbalance after that period.

You can also go on a raw food diet, in which case you will experience more gradual effect, but you can continue your meds as long as you have to.

BTW have a look at Orthomolecular therapy for mental illness or schizophrenia and particularly the legacy of Dr Hoffer.
