Absolutely... I was hospitalized recently for an infection the spiraled out of control. My pulse and blood pressure were high - from either the stress of school, taking adderall to keep up, or both. I hesitated to mention it, knowing how I'd been treated before when I was forthcoming. But after they were concerned and wanted to run more tests to determine the cause of the high vitals, I confessed. The RN said the same thing to me - "I used to take that stuff too, but it's basically crystal meth. It will cause all the same damage. Please try to stay away from it". My discharge papers included a printout on "methamphetamine/Amphetamine abuse" tucked in.
On a side note - I know through an acquaintance who is an RN who uses and sells meth, that about 80% of her customers are others in the medical field, especially those doing their residency and the insane hours. According to her, over half of the ER staff treating anyone on any given day are high.
