yes the famous undigested food remark. I dont think a doctor is the way to go.
As disappointing this may sound, many people i have heard going to famous parasitologists with specimens and saying it was a waste of time. The problem is that labs only identify eggs in stool samples and not actual specimens. Some private labs claim to be able to identify specimens but i have not yet heard anyone having luck with them and they are very expensive. I did hear of people buying their own microscope and being able to identify certain things after doing some self study. And some people get positive stool tests but it is rare :)
Getting to the bottom of your problem is a constant thing. You target one thing and in the meantime you find out you have another one as well. It might take years especially for those who have been sick long.
Maybe you could mail previous posters who posted the cotton ball issue and ask what have they found?
