Aspartame in soda really does screw it up. Sometimes it's just the luck of the draw or string that broke the camels back scenario.
For the flaxseed make sure it's ground like the linwoods brand and mix it in with other foods like yogurt. This is soluble and insoluble fibre and has loads of omega 3s, it's great for your gut basically.
The human colon is designed to digest vegetables and that's it. Everything else, fruit, meat, sugars, fats etc are to be absorbers by small intestine. Therefore, I think you need to up your vegetable intake. Especially things like figs, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, onions (if you can), garlic. Basically just loads of veg.
This should help up the bifido and E. coli count.
The main thing is getting that bifido count up. You should have around 10x what you currently have.
