The surface stuff you mention--the snot-like covers over lesions--I dealt with that. Some kind of bacteria would cause the surface of a sort to crust up, but then it could easily dissolve with moisture and reveal little worm-like particles. I really think it's Strongyloides, which can infect the hair follicles of dogs, cats, and humans! I've had to treat both myself and my cat and two dogs (as well as my husband and son!) because we all showed the same cutaneous sores/critters/hair loss where ever there seemed to be an infected spot. I had it by far the worst...but you CAN recover, I promise!
