Re: candida and kefir. How does it reconcile?
As far as I know, candida does not live on yeast, it IS a yeast and it lives on sugar, hence the no sugar/low carb diet.
I have problems with the notion that all yeasts are bad because candida is a yeast. It seems theoretical and simplistic to me.
Is it not possible that some yeasts fight other yeasts for space in the intestine? Or that there are good yeasts and bad yeasts? Or more exactly, in the case of candida, a good yeast becomes bad if you let it take over? A case of checks and balance, if you wish...That is why it is important to have à diversified intestinal flora.
Unless there is hard evidence proving that all yeasts are bad, based on observed reactions of a number of candida sufferers ingesting, for instance brewer yeast, I remain suspicious of such theories.
