Re: oil + protein combo works like HCL for me..
I posted something a bit about this a week ago, stating that the main problem with the low-carb approach to candida was the diet was still too high in carb and too low in fats.
Polyunsaturated oils impair our protein digestive enzyme.
The best fat to use with animal protein is: ANIMAL FAT.
The best example of how primitive cultures understood the importance of fat is in the recipe of pemmican, which is ground dried meat mixed with melted fat, usually from bisons. The amerindians knew how important fat was and prized the older bisons which had a lot fat on their back and around their kidneys (suet).
There is also an important relation between the fat-soluble vitamin A and protein.
Carotenes is unsufficient when our needs in vitamin A are increased. Carotenes are converted to vitamin A through the action of bile and fat digesting enzymes. Vegetables eaten without any fat, impaired bile flow or SIBO will impair carotene conversion.
Raw egg yolks have a nice balance of fat and protein (and sulfur, along with sulfur-containing heavy-metal-chelating great N-Acetyl-Cysteine)
