Re: Hyperacusis vs tinnitus

Oh dear, Molly,

Now I'll have to look up that word, too. :)

Yes, I have diminished hearing, it seems.

I sometimes cup my ears with my hands to hear TV more clearly. Any one know where to get those things called 'mouse ears'?

When my son was seven, I took him to an ear specialist. The doctor asked if my boy had been around guns. "No!"

Then I was told that he had hearing damage equal to five years in a planer mill!

I was also told that it could have been caused by Antibiotics .

My son was born in 1972.

Apparently, in 1973 they announced that at least some Antibiotics cause hearing damage in children.

Don't know when doctors got the word.

At age six a doctor dressed me down for allowing Rob to suffer a perforated eardrum, that I knew nothing about.

How many parents have guilt loads from ailments they have never been told about?

Dr. Spock apologized, I am told.

Gr-r-r.......
