Re: To CalifLady

Sharon,

I always greatly appreciate your comments. I share your mission to encourage Christians to know truth and be in prayer—-to know truth to discern untruth.

I agree with you about Ghandi and the Dali Lama—as counterfeits go, both are three dollar bills—very easy to spot. While I am in agreement with much of what you posted, I challenge you to prayerfully go a bit deeper in your analysis of this situation. Those who are teaching contrary to the Bible must always be exposed as false teachers—never condoned. You are correct that Ghandi and the Dali Lama teach no truths about Jesus—that’s what makes them easy to spot as counterfeits. It is much more difficult to discern truth when someone speaks much truth about Jesus, mixed with subtle, grievous errors. Especially when, as you acknowledged, most “Christians” don’t spend time studying God’s Word each day.

Because people such as Benny Hinn and the papacy itself ‘claim’ to preach Jesus Christ, their teachings must be examined much, much closer under the lens of Scripture.

If you seriously examine the theology, doctrines and many foibles of Benny Hinn in light of the Scriptures, you will quickly see him for what he is. http://www.banner.org.uk/wof/Hinn.html The same can be said of the papacy. Now, what I find most interesting about Benny Hinn these days, is his strange alliance with the papacy. Clearly, Benny is a false teacher, as the person who started this thread was able to discern, so why would the papacy want to be associated with such a man?

This is particularly interesting because most professing Christian’s have become so doctrinally illiterate that they can no longer discern truth from error when examining the claims of the those who are ‘false teachers’. Syncretism, pluralism and ecumenism have weakened the Gospel to the point that most professing Christians are no longer sure what the Gospel is or isn’t anymore. The ‘new’ tolerance makes us accepting of just about everyone who claims they ‘believe’ in Jesus—-no matter how many extra-biblical, false teachings they heap upon that statement. If anyone is saved at a ‘Benny Hinn crusade’, it is by the power of the Holy Spirit in spite of Benny, not because of him.

From Benny’s own website:

In today’s world, it’s not politically correct to speak out against the false doctrines of the papacy (or just about anyone else). Do so, and you just might lose your job:

Finally, here are some compelling evangelical comments regarding the death of the pope:

Joe Mizzi, M.D. http://www.justforcatholics.org/pope.htm

Sharon, it was no accident that the Holy Spirit led you away from the churches that you were led away from. I exhort you to go deeper in your discernment of the truth—-this is especially important in these times in which we live. Please prayerfully consider these matters.

In Christ, standing on the Rock with you,

Toonces
