Re: my hair growth and hormones
There are big differences between electric razors. For facial hair the mens ones are infinitely better but some are very much better than others. I like the Norelco (Philishave outside North America) men's razors -- their cutters first of all catch each hair, hold it as they depress the skin, cut it and then release it. As close as a blade.
Long before you can see the hair regrowing and just as soon as you can feel your face becoming a little less somooth you can shave again and get it all. No need for makeup to hide it at all. One of the things I like about the Norelcos -- I'm not a makeup person.
No, the hair doesn't get thicker by shaving. Some people forget that the reason they start shaving it is that it's been getting thicker! If you're shaving it and then let it grow a bit it may seem thicker because the outer end is what was cut last time you shaved (rather than being burned off by a depilatory, for example) but the the hair shaft itself isn't thicker because it's been shaved.
Norelco's parent company, the Dutch Philips Corporation, seem to be starting to promote shaving as a method of removing women's facial hair in general. For those of us who are women with male-type facial hair there's nothing comes close to shaving as the most effective and convenient way of dealing with it.
