You (an American) gained weight on an English breakfast?? Get out of here! When I went to Wisconsin 5 years ago for a conference the quantity & variety of the food they served for breakfast was unbelievable. There was a yoghurt bar, pancake bar, you name it. As you know we don't have that kind of stuff in England. I think you were just supposed to take one, but I took one of each - kid in a candy shop. Lets just say I came back with a tyre around my waist.

Bubble & squeak - that brings back childhood memories - haven't had that one in years. I think it is made from Potatoes and cabbage. Wasn't one of my favourites ...
