I don't know if you had the surgery yet but I remember watching something on the health channel about a guy who had a "screen" put in to keep the hernia in check. They actually said that after the surgery, you are less likely to get a hernia in that same spot. Also recovery was only about a week. I was really impressed. If you don't have insurance you can check to see if you qualify for state insurance. Good luck.
