I did enemas many times and was not impressed with results. It takes long time for good wash, it is hard to get water deep inside, I feel sometimes like overfilled and so on.
So I found alternative – not surprise – in rationalizing old yogic tradition - basti.
Now I do not wait for water to fill my colon – I draw it in as fast as I can catch my breath.
I am using standard enema kit and my abdomen and chest muscle power.
How it is done:
Stand straight and prepare for the process. Turn your legs a little out and compress your but.(to hold inserted bit)
After tap is opened pull in entire abdomen and lock it up (like doing so in pilates).
Exhale completely, lock your throat, drop your head forward and lift up your chest and feel how you draw the water. At this moment I feel warm water moving in my rectum and up. Slow release the chest and keeping abdominal lock inhale. I do 3 breath and repeat. I a 5 minutes you should ! liter in the trans part of colon, bellow your rib cage. It is essential to keep abdominal lock. As soon as you release, the water will go down, so hold it, breathing up your chest. One might find useful to lean back a little or push hands in lower abdomen to make it flatter.
The next part is to wash the colon. Again, exhale all air, lock your throat, and drop your head down. Lean forward and rest your hands above you knees on your thighs. From there drop your abdomen all way down and pull it back. Repeat a few times and stand straight keeping abdominal lock. Also you can use many moves while washing colon: drop and pull, wave like, and finally nauli variations. Last one is most difficult to do, but first two will do the job just as good.
By this time it is usually hard to hold and one should discharge dirty water. Repeat all moves until urge to go comes. After this I usually do wave like moves, breathing, no more abdominal locks - just to discharge all.
Then draw in second portion of water – 1 liter.
And third one after. I have clean discharge from that one. Also with colon almost clean one can use some formulated solution with the last one. I do yogurt variation.
