Re: Mirena IUD Side Effects

This morning I suffered with severe one sided abdominal pain which has now subsided after taking a painkiller. It has been painful for a week but not like this, with pain going down my right leg and back pain. I was concerned that I had ectopic pregnancy so the doctor saw me quickly. Turns out there's 'nothing' wrong...no infection, no appendicitis, still waiting to hear test results for pregnancy though or possible overian cyst.
I had my mirena fitted during a routine investigation into heavy periods. One polyp was removed but I didn't ask for the contraception. The consultant inserted it anyway, so after taking advice I decided to go ahead and try it. This was in November 2002. Since then I have gained about 20lbs but weight has stabilized for a while now, but have had periods twice a month and never know when so daily panty liners are needed and ovulation less frequent but always with pain, sex drive lower than normal and terrible vaginal itching. I haven't noticed any Depression but I am easily tired and have recently had days where it is a real struggle to get out of bed.
I'm about to go and make an appointment to have it removed after reading these pages. Thanks for the helpful info.
